What a Horrible experience. Coming from Melbourne to a wedding in Ballarat, we don't appreciate being snapped at by the owner??? when we asked for information on venues close by. If you choose to work in hospitality, don't speak to people with such arrogance. We are the people who keep your miserable business going.... Will Definitely not be recommending your... More

Hi Jetsetter73a, Thanks for posting your feedback, I must say it was disappointing to read that you had a poor service experience on your recent stay with us. Your comments are a timely reminder that no matter how tired we may be after working the long hours that hospitality demands, we need to be at our best at all times.... More

We needed somewhere in Ballarat for a couple of nights and so, without putting much homework into it, stayed at The Ansonia. It turned out to be a good choice: very comfortable and an excellent location. The bed was good (although, like most in hotels, it has a doona - awful in a warm room) and the towels were large,... Hi hzbloke, Thanks for taking time to write a review on your recent stay with us at the Ansonia, we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Glad that you found the bed and room comfortable, warm and quiet. There's not really much we can do about the shower over bath arrangement but appreciate your comments. We'll take another... More

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is very well located in the centre of Ballarat, our family room at the front of the hotel facing the street was very noisy. The rooms are very simple, details like sad flat pillows, no baggage racks, poor bathroom toiletries can all be easily rectified help warrant the room pricing. The staff were... More

Thank you for your feedback. There are two street front rooms effected by traffic noise, mainly on rainy nights, that we are planning to fit with additional curtains to insulate the sounds. Pillows, baggage racks and toiletries are also part of planned up-grade to all rooms to improve guest comfort and room presentation. The Ansonia is housed in a heritage... More

We stayed overnight in Winter. Ballarat can be rather chilly (and it was), but the hotel was warm and cosy. Our Atrium room was very spacious and clean with high ceilings and a huge amount of room for our 2 year old's portable cot. The building has real character and it is very close to the main shopping/café areas of... More

I booked for 2 couples and we were all very comfortable there . Beds were comfortable also. we didn't eat there as we had other plans that weekend with family. However we plan to go back soon for dinner there .It had a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely big room to relax and read in downstairs. There was plenty of seating... More

We stayed for one night in this beautiful hotel. It has been lovingly up-kept with all the mod cons expected these days. Whilst freezing outside large wall radiators (think Europe/UK) provided all the warmth we needed inside. As an old building the ceilings are very high enhancing the feeling of spaciousness. Our room was on the first floor (no lift... More

The location of this place is its stand out feature....about 50 metres from the Sturt Street (main road through Ballarat and which acts as a major shopping strip) with the train station about a 10 minute walk directly up Lydiard Street. There is a great cafe around the corner (Bibo) which serves great coffee and an outstanding bakery with the... More

Stayed here last minute for one night on business. Chose it as an alternative to all the other expensive rooms in town since my workplace doesn't offer large amounts for this town. Didn't want to stay in your typical highwayside motel so thought this might be a pleasant change and I wasn't disappointed. It oozes character, offered a friendly reception... More

The hotel is located in the CBD near most attractions. It's a clean place but somewhat old. We were travelling as a party of two and booked a two bedroom unit. The so called two bedroom unit was badly designed with the bathroom only accessible by going though one of the bedrooms. The restaurant was closed and we were unable... More

Stayed here for the one night and was not disappointed. It was a sweltering night and the air con provided some in room relief. Very good nights sleep on a comfy bed and the breakfast was amazing and the female manager was very attentive and was excellent at her job. She made an amazing coffee to order, actually she made...
