Stayed here last weekend as had a function in Ballarat at Craig Hotel just 50 meters away. Chose an atrium room because it was downstairs and it was perfect for our needs. The window shades need to be kept closed as the window is onto the main corridor - but we knew that. Was good to get some fresh air... More

Well restored at some point and with a modern colour palette and furnishings while paying homage to it's Heritage roots. The facade bodes well, suggesting a quiet, understated elegance inside. We entered with smiles and high hopes. Normally I would wait at least until morning to write a review, but the spirit of disappointment has moved me to review before... More

Stayed here for three nights in November after finding our preferred hotel booked out. While not as lovely as the Heritage on Lydiard our atrium room was spacious, clean and comfortable with contemporary decor and a good bathroom. Only odd design feature was the desk which was unusually high to accomodate a minibar at one end, with high bar stool/chair... More

Excellent sized room and much better price than surrounding hotels. Found all day free parking a short walk away and left car there for entire stay. Otherwise paid street parking out the front. For someone just needing a base for the night it was perfect.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in early October to see some of the shows in the annual Cabaret held in Ballarat ( the third year). It was very conveniently located in the centre of town. We parked directly outside in Lydiard Street (Sunday) although this is metered space during the week - one drawback. However once through... More

What a Horrible experience. Coming from Melbourne to a wedding in Ballarat, we don't appreciate being snapped at by the owner??? when we asked for information on venues close by. If you choose to work in hospitality, don't speak to people with such arrogance. We are the people who keep your miserable business going.... Will Definitely not be recommending your... More

Hi Jetsetter73a, Thanks for posting your feedback, I must say it was disappointing to read that you had a poor service experience on your recent stay with us. Your comments are a timely reminder that no matter how tired we may be after working the long hours that hospitality demands, we need to be at our best at all times.... More

We needed somewhere in Ballarat for a couple of nights and so, without putting much homework into it, stayed at The Ansonia. It turned out to be a good choice: very comfortable and an excellent location. The bed was good (although, like most in hotels, it has a doona - awful in a warm room) and the towels were large,... Hi hzbloke, Thanks for taking time to write a review on your recent stay with us at the Ansonia, we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Glad that you found the bed and room comfortable, warm and quiet. There's not really much we can do about the shower over bath arrangement but appreciate your comments. We'll take another... More

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is very well located in the centre of Ballarat, our family room at the front of the hotel facing the street was very noisy. The rooms are very simple, details like sad flat pillows, no baggage racks, poor bathroom toiletries can all be easily rectified help warrant the room pricing. The staff were... More

Thank you for your feedback. There are two street front rooms effected by traffic noise, mainly on rainy nights, that we are planning to fit with additional curtains to insulate the sounds. Pillows, baggage racks and toiletries are also part of planned up-grade to all rooms to improve guest comfort and room presentation. The Ansonia is housed in a heritage... More

We stayed overnight in Winter. Ballarat can be rather chilly (and it was), but the hotel was warm and cosy. Our Atrium room was very spacious and clean with high ceilings and a huge amount of room for our 2 year old's portable cot. The building has real character and it is very close to the main shopping/café areas of... More

I booked for 2 couples and we were all very comfortable there . Beds were comfortable also. we didn't eat there as we had other plans that weekend with family. However we plan to go back soon for dinner there .It had a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely big room to relax and read in downstairs. There was plenty of seating... More
