I had a bit of trepidation booking Reid's after reading some of the reviews on but figured that the price and location just couldn't be beaten. I'm glad I did because my experience at Reid's was nothing like the negative reviews had warned. While it's true that this is a very no frills operation, it had all the things I... More

Reids is a charming heritage listed guest house, 2 min from the station. In the heart of town. Friendly service. My room was a good size , with double bed, electric blanket for those cold Ballarat nights, good size bathroom, heater,t,v etc. The place has a wonderful feel about it as apposed to some 'built over night 'hotels !! Only one... More

Booked two nights and only stayed one. Was quite noisy and the room was small but ok. This was not the place for us. The reception staff were very nice and helpful. Good value if one is looking for low cost accommodation.

I debated whether to give this 4 or 5 stars and I'm probably being a little unfair with 4 stars, because it was exactly as advertised and I'm a little coloured by the circumstances of our stay. We had a very huge room and a good en-suite and a comfortable bed and a fridge that worked well in a great... More

Two of us shared a Double/Single room with en-suite for two nights. We had intended to stay only one, but found the room so pleasant and relaxing that decided to stay for two. The building is divided up with guests in one part and permanent residents in another. As it is owned by a not-for-profit organisation who supports those who... More

Beautiful old building in Ballarat owned by the Wesley church. Very cheap accommodation $80/room for 3 with own bathroom and TV The place is very 'run down' and when my friend went for an early walk around the guest house she felt like it was more like a boarding house/half way house ( is you know what I mean)...which is... I spent two nights at Reid's Guest House and found it perfectly fine. As a single traveller it was the most economical option in Ballarat for an ensuite room at $60. I had tv, a fridge and electric kettle. The bed was comfortable with crisp linen and the shower was hot. There was a secure carpark at the back. I... More

We only stayed one night as we were in Ballarat for a family illness, so we didnt want to pay a fortune as it was a unexpected trip. At the Reid's they made us... More

We can cope with tired and old, but we do like things to be a bit clean. The linen was stained (dirty? eek.. I hate to think). There were false nails in the bathroom on the floor... It felt a bit like being in an episode of Criminal Minds.

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry your experience at Reid’s was not up to our desired standard. Regarding the linen we have had an issue with a washing machine that was leaving scuff marks from the rubber seal around the door. This has now been sorted out and we are sorry that you appear to have received... More

What an adventure! Like stepping into the wild west of Australia, little has changed in this grand old building, its easy to imagine those old days of the grandure of yesteryear. The room was ample in size and clean. The bed was very comfortable with crisp snowy white sheets, and the tea and coffe making supplies were generous to say... More
