An excellent B & B not too far from the middle of town. It was easy to find, there was parking directly outside on a service road and Jennifer [the owner] gave us a choice of rooms on arrival. The room itself was delightful, our bed very comfortable, and the breakfast delicious. A nice touch was the port and cakes... More

There are a lot of places to stay in Launceston, so picking one isn't easy. Tripadvisor pointed us in the right direction, but would this B&B live up to expectations? Absolutely. This is a big, old house, with beautifully decorated and well-maintained rooms that offer comfortable privacy. Our room, David, was actually two rooms - luxury! Guests are accommodated separately... A very tasteful B&B with wonderful breakfasts, a convenient location & gracious host. the rooms were spotless & decorated in keeping with the period yet not overly done as are many B&Bs. As noted in earlier reviews, breakfast was generous & delicious.

We stayed at Ashton Gate late Feb and were lucky to get a room (the William Room) as it was apparently the annual Launy Cup (horse race) the next day. I think there may even be a public holiday. The owner Jennifer was very helpful and friendly and the location was perfect as it was very close to the city... More

Ashton Gate is a colonial style single story house and all furniture and decor are in keeping. The rooms are spotless and well appointed. The breakfasts are substantial and beautifully presented. It includes home made bread and jams. Very comfortable guest lounge with complimentary refreshments. Only problem is the very steep climb up from the main town! However this is... More

I agree with the other reviews. We stayed in the William room, which was large, comfortable and very nicely decorated. Smallish en-suite, but adequate. Breakfast was very good. The location was good, being quite close to the city, but might be hard to walk back up to, being on a hill. We drove, so no issue for us. I liked... More

I have stayed twice at this delightful guest house so professionally run by Jen and John. Both times I stayed in Emma room, which is very comfortable and has a roomy ensuite. The lounge room always has a varied choice of reading material including some of the history of the house formerly owned by the Burchills. There is also port, sherry... More

We arrived after a long journey at Ashton Gate, and warmly greeted by a friendly host who showed us around a lovely victorian house. It was delightfully furnished - a real joy and pleasure to stay there. Our room was 'Emma' , which was a beautiful bedroom with a large modern bathroom. The hostess took time to book an evening... We recently stayed here for a few nights having found this property through Tripadvisor. It is comfortable and well maintained with a variety of room types and a good website where you can clearly see all the options. There's also a pleasant garden, which was full of roses when we arrived. The owners were very helpful with both restaurant and... More
