We had decided to take a break and get away for a few days. In winter, in Tasmania, this is not always easy as a lot of businesses, particularly restaurants, close during winter. I have to say though that it is improving every year. That said I decided on Launceston in the North of the State as I knew we... More

We were placed in a lovely room with 2 beds in the newer building at the back. We were there for 5 nights and in the middle of winter we expected to be coldl. The beds were comfy and the room was nicely decorated and warm. The price included a continental breakfast with bacon and farm eggs. Sure it was... More

Would have to be the worst $175 ive spent. As for being four star i would have to disagree. Booked 2 executive spa rooms arrived at 12 as arranged one room wasnt ready. Went away for over 4 hours to return to room still not made and housekeeping gone home. thought we would use the spa bath but unfortunately ran... More

This property is located on a steep hill, with a very precarious driveway, if you don't like heights, like me, it can be pretty scary! We stayed in the 'honeymoon' suite, it was comfortable and did have dual showers and a spa in the attached 'day room'. The property has some oddities about it, like having to lug your luggage... Stayed in Executive Spa with view(descriptions as per their web site). Veiw no longer exists new accomodation blocks it. Mini bar - no longer exists. Port on arrival - no sign of it. Phones in room - not in ours. Bedroom was once a lovely place but peeling paint and general wear and tare are taking there toll. Spa had... More

Large old world room that was charming and very clean with comfortable bed. The only down side the TV impossible to operate as its directions are on Chinese. And no bed lamps so you can read. Makes for a quiet night. There is also no way of contacting reception after hours unless you go outside!

Our room was adequate and the location was handy to the city itself. Just a short walk to Boags Brewery and anything else you may want to see in Launceston. Breakfast was good and both the owner, Uki, ( hope I spelt that right ) and the chef were very helpful. We chose this place to stay at the last... More

Stayed in the new section. Nice modern large room, lovely views, excellent breakfast, friendly service, easy parking. All very good for the price. This was in offpeak time. Would certainly stay here again.

When you are asked to pay when checking-in the alarm bells should ring. Grotty hotel - not worth the money and deservedly ranked 28th out of 29 Launcestion hotels (what must the other one be like ?). Freezing cold dirty rooms with storage radiators not working and an owner who clearly graduated from the Fawlty Towers school of hotel management... More

We booked this hotel because we wanted to stay in a heritage environment. We paid an extra $20/night for an extra bed. When we arrived the reception lady(believed to be the owner) said the heritage room we had booked was not big enough for the extra bed and she would put us in the new Areca hotel-also owned by the...
