All I asked for was a clean room at a cheep rate, I was not after anything special. Room had peanuts on floor beside bed for whole time I was there, four days even though it was serviced each day, would hire new cleaning staff. Water pipe leading to sink leaked forming a lake in bath/toilet space (too small to... More

Hotel is in a very central location. Rooms are small but clean and tidy - with two people would be a slightly cramped. No problem with noise when I stayed there. Staff were quite efficient and had no problem with leaving some luggage in storage after check out time while I was awaiting further transportation. I paid AUD 65 for... More

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night it was cheap so we were expecting the quality of the room to be average. It stunk like smoke and someone was outside vacuuming at 6am right near our room. The biggest disappointment was that after we had specifically driven out to the cheese and raspberry farms we left... Waratah on York in Launceston is gorgeous - inside and out. We were moved to a brighter room with airconditioning as they were experiencing a heat wave. The bed and the pillows in our room were like sleeping on a cloud - literally. The chef Michael was very pleasant and happy to cook whatever you could want for a hot... More

Bathroom was disgusting. Don't think, in fact know that it was not cleaned. Whoever stayed before us decided to cut their hair in the shower and it was left in there. I know it is cheap but that does not mean that they can not be clean!!!! Curtains half hanging of the rail. Carpets not vacuumed, mould not only in... More

On entry we met Duncan the manager, who was so friendly and helpful, we were sold on the property before seeing the rooms... The rooms are small and old, but they are clean, the location is central, the staff are brilliant... I am not sure what people expect for $70 on a Saturday night, but I was surprised, hostels in... We were prepared for basic accommodation when we arrived at Hotel Tasmania so we were not disappointed. The rooms were small but clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. I would however only recommend a short stay. There is a nightclub down stairs that is very busy on a Wednesday night. We could hear the music but... More

I have stayed at Launceston's Hotel Tasmania three times now. Each time, I have stayed for a week or maybe eight days and they have sliced a couple of dollars of the nightly rate because I have had what they consider a lengthy stay. This place may also be known to some as The Saloon Bar, and contains two bars,... More
