We stayed for one night and had booked a standard room, but decided to upgrade when we arrived to a refurbished room. The hotel is in a good location right in the centre of town. Parking is available in the car park next to the hotel and costs $6. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Foyer and Restaurant looks... More

Great spot close to city park and city centre shopping, with all the services you would expect from a 4 and a half star hotel. There's plenty of hotels in the area with better facilities or bigger rooms, but the Hotel Grand Chancellor is consistently clean, well serviced and has great rates on last minute websites, plus kids stay free... Yes it does seem like this places best days are behind it. Alot of hotels just seem to get set up nicely but do little to maintain themselves besides the necessary cleaning & repairs. Stayed here before moving here and while it has a great appearance, there sure is something lacking. The staff seemed really kind to me though, that... More

Stayed here for one night this month. Arrived very late after cancelled and delayed flights. Staff member at the desk knew my name and had check in arranged. I appreciated the all night room service. Bed was comfortable and room was unusually spacious. All of the staff were very friendly. The decor is a bit dated but it could be... More

Thought we'd choose a very upmarket hotel for our 25th anniversary. It was like going back in time. A white plastic kettle from the 70s. A TV that had a remote where the buttons were worn out. Then to get charged $6.00 to park in their car park was just a slap in the face. Never again at that price!... More

Room was clean and spacious and staff were very friendly. Handy to everything we wanted to see. Were not disrupted by current renovations. Helped us out when stranded in Launceston due to ash cloud disruping air travel. Would stay there again. Only negative would be the wireless internet rates which were a bit exorbitant.

We stayed one night due to cancelled flights over the Queen's Birthday long weekend. The hotel is in need of a refresh and the staff were not very friendly or helpful. For what looks like it could be a good hotel, our stay was dissapointing.

We were booked into this hotel for 2 nights, however, the hotel neglected to inform us when we checked in that there was refurbishment going on and that the jackhammers, drills and hammers could be heard in every room all day! There was no porter service; our room was very old and tired, uncomfortable beds, old tv, a portable air... More

Don't waste your money here. Lobby was impressive but room was very average even had a portable air conditioner that was very noisy. Curtains were dirty. Bathroom clean but very aged and they are doing renovations so in the morning could hear drilling....seriously not a highlight!
