The Charles is a modern, clean, very well presented hotel with lovely staff and excellent value, clean, modern rooms. Given the number of now dated, slightly worn out hotels in Launceston, the Charles is a nice surprise. It is an old converted Hospital and the surrounds are a little medical, given its location - but its also an easy walk... More

Really convenient location with top quality rooms and excellent facilities. The staff and service is also excellent. Aromas cafe which is across the road is a great option for breakfast or lunch. The hotel is really easy to get to and not far from the Launceston General Hospital.

This was a super hotel, bit of a walk into town and uphill on the way back, but in every other way it was super. Splendid rooms, although chairs weren't the best for back support. Beds massive and comfortable. En suite bathroom and kitchen facilities were excellent. Staff were helpful when advice was sought. Some nice handy eateries nearby which... More

The last time I stayed here, I was completely put off by the filthiness of the room, or more specifically the carpets, with I doubted had seen much suction since the invention of the Hoover vacuum cleaner, which if my appliance history is anything to go by, was a good century or more ago. But return I did, thanks to... More

Stayed overnight on business trip and generally, a good hotel. Was booked on the Executive Room with breakfast. The room had a kitchenette which is a major item if I were traveling with my family. (I will remember if will go on holiday there). The bed was big and cozy. The airconditioning worked well - had its own remote so... More

Stayed here for 3 weeks when we first moved to Launceston. Had two interconnected double suites as had our kids. Interconnected rooms worked well. Were of good size considering hotel rooms. Little kitchenette was reasonable - electric hob, microwave, toaster kettle, small fridge. Very limited space in kitchen for any food prep, could have done with an oven, but we... More

My friend and I stayed here on a 'round Tassie' trip after recommendations from other friends/family. As other reviewers have commented it is very well appointed - the 'whistles' it is missing is a concierge, swimming pool etc. but otherwise the tone of the place is top notch for the average traveller. Staff on arrival were great - friendly and... More

A very well refurbished, stylish hotel in a good location with helpful and friendly staff. Just what Launceston needs. My room was spacious and well designed with an excellent bed and bathroom. It was good to have free Wifi throughout the hotel - unusual in Australia. Dinner was fine and the continental breakfast very good, with local juice and fruit,... More

I stay here regularly on business. The hotel itself is a refurbished hospital developed by the iconic Eastern European entrepreneur and wine maker Joseph Chromy. The standard of fit out us very high, including furnishings and linen. Staff are professional and attentive and rooms very quiet ensuring a good nights sleep. I got upgraded to one of the larger studio... More

Very comfortable, close to CBD. However, the building in general is very clinical/sterile and lacks atmosphere. It still feels like you're in a hospital, which is exactly where you are. In fact, our room overlooked the current hospital! The bathroom in our room was poorly designed. Twin basins in vanity and plenty of room for double/oversized shower but shower installed... More
