Finally found Hotel Charles, we thought it was closer to CBD but it is actually only a 10-15 downhill walk. Coming back is a climb though. Got upgraded to a lovely room, my sort of accomodation. Too cold to move from the lovely gas/fake fire so did dinner in the restaurant. Best scallops l've ever had and the steak was... More

This hotel was great. We checked in quite late as we had been caught in the snow from Hobart. The staff were fantastic. They knew our situation and made sure we were in our rooms as quickly as possible. Both the rooms we had were a wonderful temperature as the staff had pre-heated them. It was such a nice welcome... Hotel Charles was precisely what I expected. Clean, professional service and a very comfortable bed. Free wifi was an excellent bonus. I came to have a night to myself and get a bit of work done. It was ideal for that! I was pleased with every aspect and would definitely stay again. I did not use the bar or restaurant,... More

Not in town centre but close, on a hilltop next to the hospital. Love the sleek modern decor, gas fire in the lobby. Level 3-spacious room overlooking garden opposite the hospital. The room on level 1 overlooked the car park and the wi-fi in this room was rather temperamental. The room air conditioning works well. Good hotel restaurant, free wifi... More

After 'cheating' on our old friend Hotel Charles by staying elsewhere on our previous visit (due to an irresistible mystery hotel deal), we are back, and have recently completed our 5th visit. With the one exception above, we have been staying here for the last 3 years, and the key to its success it consistency. On all occasions we have... More

It seems that nothing is too difficult for the friendly and efficient staff at the Hotel Charles. My wife and I were due to stay overnight recently but had to cancel due to her being very unwell. The young man I spoke to moved my booking forward with the absolute minimum of fuss and we look forward to returning to... More

If you aren't a local, than you wouldn't realise that this well put together property was once a derelict ex-hospital site that was considered a white elephant by many. Thank goodness for Josef Chromy and his vision. The hotel is stylish and well appointed. This will sound strange, but we quite liked the height of the ceilings in the hallways... More

We had just arrived from Melbourne on The Spirit Of Tasmania and that gets in at 6am. We knew we wouldn't be able to check in too early so we drove around Launceston, then went to the Bridestowe Lavendar farm and arrived at the hotel at 1pm ( check in was 2pm). We asked if we could check in abit... More

We came down from Sydney for the June long weekend and to see Hawthorn play at York Park. The Hotel was superb. The rooms were nice and the pillows were perfect! The Bar was nice and the Restaurant had a great menu. Try the chicken! The staff were friendly and helpful. It is within walking distance of the Mall and... More
