This hotel is in a great location and walking distance to very good cafes and home ware shops. Its in an excellent location if your visiting someone at the hospital opposite. There is also ample free parking. The hotel is very clean. Dont go there if you're in Launceston for business. There is supposedly Wifi in the room but it... More

Formerly a hospital, the place has been worked out perfectly to make a good looking hotel. Comfortable and quiet. The long hallways at each floors are quite impressive. The restaurant is definitely above average too.

The room was very retro with bright orange furnishings. It was clean and had everything we needed. I particularly liked the bathroom and it was good to have a separate shower rather than the dated shower over bath. We didn't have a spectacular view, our room overlooked the building opposite. We also didn't have good quality sleep as at 3.50... More

I often stay here when visiting family in Tasmania. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to the CBD and very close to the Charles Street cafes and a decent supermarket. It sits on a decent rise and gets great views of Launceston if you have a North facing room. (most are not). It is right opposite the... More

The Hotel Charles is in a great location, just 5-10 minutes walk from the middle of town. I've been travelling to Launceston for over 10 years now but had never stayed here. It's pretty new at only 3-4 years since it opened. The large spacious rooms rooms still feel brand new and the bathrooms are very big. I stayed in... More

We stayed for two nights over the weekend and had a great experience. The room was very spacious with plenty of room for bags, a large wardrobe, desk and king bed. The room also featured a kitchenette, which would be handy if we had spent more time in the hotel. The city is small enough that you can get around... More

Hotel Charles offers a rare combination - it is both family friendly and very sophisticated. The rooms are set up to be inter-connecting and work very well for families or friends travelling together. No bath but the bathrooms are huge. The staff are particularly friendly. Jim in the restaurant was delightful with our 'high maintenance' child. Speaking of the restaurant,... More

Finally found Hotel Charles, we thought it was closer to CBD but it is actually only a 10-15 downhill walk. Coming back is a climb though. Got upgraded to a lovely room, my sort of accomodation. Too cold to move from the lovely gas/fake fire so did dinner in the restaurant. Best scallops l've ever had and the steak was... More

This hotel was great. We checked in quite late as we had been caught in the snow from Hobart. The staff were fantastic. They knew our situation and made sure we were in our rooms as quickly as possible. Both the rooms we had were a wonderful temperature as the staff had pre-heated them. It was such a nice welcome...
