Decided a few days before the weekend to have a quick trip away and take the kids to play in the snow. So was a little doubtful when all of my first choices where fully booked. My first choices are always new shinny and modern so going into something old dated and a little scary looking quite frankly wasn't to... More

Needed to stay overnight in Launceston for a sporting carnival. Had late check in and were leaving early. Good accommodation close to venue and roomy for a family. Clean and tidy, kitchenette well appointed and even fresh milk in a jug in the fridge not long life milk. Youngest child liked it, said it was like visiting Nan's house.

A beautiful but TIRED old house within 15 minutes walk to the city centre. We visited in May when the weather was very cold (minus two degrees Celsius one morning). Our room at Kilmarnock House had one very basic electric heater which failed dismally to heat the room which had the old style, very high ceilings. A matter of safety... More

Kilmarnock House is an Edwardian dwelling, built in 1905 and a delightful example of the architecture of that time. Despite the business having changed hands just before I arrived, in early February, 2015, I found that my stay was very comfortable, the room was pleasant and clean, and my 'mini-kitchen cupboardr' was most ingenious! Stained glass windows, sunny verandahs and... More

It looked great - comfortable antique accommodation for one night in Launceston. It wasn't my first choice but it was available. I had to book the Honeymoon Suite as it was the only thing they had. It cost $165 on a Wednesday night and I was so disappointed. The only heating was an electric heater - no electric blanket. It... More

A solo traveller staying 2 nights. Kilmarnock House, now under new management, is clean, effcient and rooms are well equipped with mini kitchen and extra features to make your stay comfortable. The new owner drove me to a local shopping centre and helped with locating food to prepare myself - a generous gesture on his behalf.

We stayed here 2 weeks after the hotel had been sold by its very long term owners. I suspect - having owned it for well over 25 years (I deduced that from a magazine in our room dated December 2006!) they were probably as tired as sme of the fittings. Window wouldn't open properly because of foliage caught up in... More

I can see why others rate this accommodation highly. Its not modern and not posh, but it is spacious, comfortable with everything you need and some little touches added that are not always included in some hotels. If you want glamour this isn't for you. However it is what you expect from a property of this era and its super... More

We chose this property based on its location and style of accommodation and were delighted with our choice on both counts. The building is charming and beautifully appointed. Our apartment was spacious, well appointed and beautifully furnished. The kitchenette was surprisingly well appointed, including some microwave utensils, but lacking a stove top and dishwasher, of course. The bathroom in our... More

We choose this place to stay because it offered a good solution to the problem of traveling with two children (we got two adorning rooms). The rate was very good but we did not expect the Kilmarnock to be so beautiful. We all fell in love with the place, for me it was close to where I had to be... More
