Best sleep of our trip was at Tonic I adored the bed so comfortable. Breakfast in bed was a real treat, fresh fruit and a museli to die for. The view out to the mountians was spectacular with a wonderful sunset which we shared with the kangaroos. The owners were on hand with useful tips for wineries and and dining... More

Lovely setting. Sitting at the deck looking out at the lake and beyond is a wonderful and tranquil experience. It is an unstaffed and self service place which serve us fine. We had all the breakfast ingredients left by the cleaners the day before. We made the toasts and coffee by ourselves. One thing to comment is that the cleaner... More

Stunning sunsets and great hosts who even lent us their own gum boots for a concert we went to in the rain. no restaurant on site but breakfast fairies ensured fridge well stocked each day. the owners dog made us very welcome and kept us amused and the owners were very helpful with suggestions for meals and wineries to visit.... We were looking for a romantic stay in Hunter Valley. From reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor we thought Tonic Hotel (a so called design hotel) is a good idea but it wasn't. Here is our story of a two night stay during a week in September 2015. If you're not aware it is an unstaffed set of cabins.... More

I knew from the time I looked at the website, that Tonic would be wonderful, and it was. We were attending a Saturday lunch wedding celebration at Lillanos Restaurant nearby, and were able to take advantage of Tonic's quiet and relaxing ambience. Waking up both mornings to the lake in front, balloons quietly drifting by, and the occasional kangaroo looking... More

My husband and I needed a getaway from Sydney for a couple of days and after reading other great reviews of Tonic, we thought it sounded like the place for us! From the super efficient check-in to the friendly and chilled back owners/hosts, our stay felt like we were spending the weekend at our own farmhouse. Plenty of birds, rabbits,... More

Hi we spent a couple of night in tonic in August as part of our 10 days trip to Australia and this part was indisputably the best. Although the hotel is not in the more 'happening' part of hunter, which is Pokolbin where most of the restaurants and wineries are, the quite location has the benefit of kangaroos and wallabies... The Tonic Hotel offered my family an exceptional experience this weekend. Each of the apartments were smartly dressed and equipped with quality fixtures. A favourite was the fireplace where some hours were spent sipping a few wines. The views from the balcony included an abundance of wildlife. Black swans landed on the dam very early in the morning. A number... More

We recently stayed at Tonic in the hunter valley for two nights and really loved it. The breakfast provisions were enormous too much for two people. The scenery from the room to the pond was absolutely stunning and the sunset to die for. The bed was so comfortable and the room lovely and warm Just a few points I would... More

We stayed at the Tonic for the weekend of the Roxette concert. We found the accommodation and facilities to be fantastic and more than suited our needs, for our quiet and tranquil stay in the Hunter. The surroundings are beautiful with the room facing the river and a wonderful countryside backdrop. Ian was very welcoming and more than accommodating with... More
