I agree with some of the other reviewers - this is not a 5-star luxury hotel - it is a country lodge, complete with log cabins. Very cosy, very clean. Like the fact that they had wine and glasses already chilled in the fridge when we got there. We had the weekend package which included dinner on Saturday night. The... more

The accomodation was average at best. The kind of room I would expect to pay $80 for anywhere else. The wait staff at shakey tables were excellent. The menu was not as advertised on the web site. It was pretentious and I believe there must have been a special on beetroot at the time as everything was covered in either... more

The rooms were quite simple, but clean. The vinyard is absolutely beautiful. The pool could not be used because of dirt, but the restaurant topped everything: I have never been eaten so perfect and sleeping there after some wine is no problem :-) the owner paula and simon were very friedly and helpful. the stay on the vinyard is very... more

The location was a bit of a drive...but it was nice to be out of the city. Our room had 1 King and two twins. It was a cabin not a fancy Hotel so we got what we expected. The breakfast was great...we did not have dinner there, but it looked very nice! We might stay again (they let us... more

The rooms are simply awful and we fully agree with the prior reviwer, try the restaurant, Shakey Tables, which is excellent but don't stay. Our eaction was also to want to check out immediately. The rooms are basic, uncomfortable and dirty. Now understand, i am not complaining about simple, rustic accomodation and I have stayed in many excellent places of... more

We were attracted to the Hunter Country Lodge because of Shakey Tables restaurant and decided to stay in the accommodation because it looked good on the internet site. Our overall opinion is that the restaurant is worth visiting but stay somewhere else in the region, there is plenty of choice. On arriving the check-in experience was laid back but friendly... more

We spent our 2nd honeymoon night here. It was a great change from our first night in sydney at the mariott. Rooms were nice. I did feel like I was camping a bit, but with A/C, a nice bed and a proper shower. It's like a log cabin, so if you're looking for 5 star lux, do not stay here.... more

My husband and I stayed at this lodge during our honeymoon and could not find one bad thing to say about it. Set in the beautiful surroundings of hunter valley you have your own very rustic log cabin. Very spacious rooms and wine ready in your room for when you arrive! We even managed to see kangaroos hopping around right... more

This is a beautiful little place in a beautiful setting - rustic, comfortable cabins filled with bottles of wine, a fabulous restaurant and a wonderfully cooling pool surrounded by vineyards. A great place, and a great base for seeing this fantastic region. more

My husband and l stayed here as part of our honeymoon jaunt round Australia and loved it. It was so different from the usual type of chain hotel, quaint little lodges with a real country feel, and there really are kangaroos grazing all around. The Shakey Tables restaurant lived up to its amazing reputation with simply stunning food, and the... more
