i can't believe no-one has mentioned the 'other' occupants of this hotel. We stayed in room No.10, but it's apparently no.8, which houses the resident spirits. i won't go into detail, as the experience still frightens me, but needless to say i will never return to the Convent. if you don't beleive me, be sure to pick up the big... more

Such a romantic place to stay - and because it was a Sunday night so early in the season, we were the only guests. It was like have our own private mansion, with a staff to cater to your every whim. Wonderful to have such spacious, lush reception rooms and garden to relax in. Our package included a double massage... more

We were surprised to be able to book a single night at the Convent for the June long weekend (Sunday) for a belated anniversary celebration. That scored a tick from the outset - many other Hunter Valley properties insisted on 3 night bookings for the long weekend. The package we booked included a three course dinner at adjacent Robert's restaurant... more

Our wine tasting tour of the Hunter Valley came with wonderful surprize-a night at the Peppers Convent. The rooms were airy and spacious with a huge balcony containing sofas and rocking chairs. It was ideal for watching nature as the sun faded from the sky. The staff, Tanya and Sharon, graciously made all the arrangements we requested in spite of... more

..... my partner made a reservation online we had a confirmation and paid deposit a week prior to our stay. The morning that we were due to depart (we live 4.5hrs away had just packed the car and were ready to leave), we received a phone call telling us that the hotel was over booked and our booking was cancelled.......... more

We had problems just trying to book a room at this place. Made numerous phone calls from the UK and on each occasion was informed that someone would either call me back or email me. This did not occur. Sent emails and no one would reply. Eventually I called and spoke to the after hours emergency care taker (I woke... more

We appreciate all feedback thank you. I accept the hotel did lose its email connectivity over this period due to a telco supplier issue and apologise for the problems in the reservation process. With respect to the hotel feedback, a recently completed refurbishment of all guest rooms has suitbably addressed the issues contained within this review. The property is a...

The location (adjacent the fantastic Peppers Winery) and the grand old house made for a fantastic arrival, however that is where the joy ended. All of the comps you expect in a room were missing when we entered the room. Only on asking were our free chocs and shampoos etc placed in our room. The room was nice, for maybe... more

Thank you taking the time to communicate your feedback. I apologise that you enountered some issues during your stay. The only reason this function was accepted with other guests in the hotel was the fact that it was a small afternoon cokctail party in the gardens. The menu chosen for the wedding was not appropriate, as it was finger food...

Problems even booking a room - left many messages at hotel and was never called back. Only one person waiting tables at breakfast - unacceptable wait for service. Bathroom not up to scratch - mould in corners, in need of some upkeep. Stains on bedclothes. Paid almost $800 for two nights accomadation. For this I would have expected impeccable service,... more

My husband and I spent Friday (25th April) and Sat (26th April) 08 at the Convent. We were originally put in a room under the stairs which was VERY noisy and small. We asked to be moved and were moved to a room, still on the ground level, on the other side of the guest house. The room was smelley... more

This is a very nice place by normal standards, but it needs upgrading to match it's price. Our (new) friends had to change rooms because the room they were given was in disrepair. Our room was very antique old but- not not necessarily in a good way. However it was very pleasant and worth the stay if you don't mind... more
