During a road trip hrough western NSW, my wife and I chose to stay at the Old Parkes Convent, and we were not disappointed. Warmly welcomed by Colin and Judy, we were shown our accommodation in the 'Music Room' and a walk around discussing the history of the convent. This apartment is actually made up of no less than 4... We recently spent 2 nights at the Old Parkes Convent, Parkes in "top of the convent" unit as we had a dog. We found both Colin & Judy very welcoming and obliging. There was excellent food for breakfast etc and the main bedroom/lounge room was very good, but the kitchen and bathroom areas left a lot to be desired -... More

I've just returned to Melbourne from Parkes after spending five nights there for business. Beforehand, I searched the reviews for Parkes motels and B and Bs on this site and decided on the Old Parkes Convent. I was not disappointed, in fact it was better than I had hoped. It is a beautiful old building that has been loved and... More

My husband and I together with our adult son booked The Music Room at the Convent. We received a warm welcome and tour of our apartment and the grounds. Colin gave us history of the building and listened to my husband recall the times he visited there as a child. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and there were many little... More

Hi wingstofly474, Thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am glad you and your family enjoyed staying at The Old Parkes Convent. It was great to hear how your husband brought coal to the kitchen to fuel the stove when he was just a boy and how the Nuns rewarded him with cake. The old... More

We stayed here on the way to coonabarabran visiting family. Having two young children we have stayed at a number of places in the central west to break up the long car journey but this has been the best accommodation so far. We were impressed with how well the place was set up for families. There's a sandpit at the... More

Exactly what the Dr. ordered - the absolute definition of R&R! Parkes is a lovely country town whose residents are, obviously, very proud and none more than Colin and Judy! We couldn't have been more relaxed in The Music Room, with all the creature comforts - a home away from home with a tapas bar / restaurant across the road... More

Spacious, comfortable and friendly in a convenient location. Colin was extremely helpful and the history was so interesting. Gas open fires as well as air conditioning, lovely curios and historic pictures and needlework.

Hi Margaret932, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am pleased you enjoyed your time at the Convent and found its history interesting. We were fortunate to have around 30 Nuns who lived at the Convent visit us about 18 months ago, they were very excited and were able to explain what many of... More

We have stayed here twice on our way from the Hunter Valley to Mildura, (a long trip made even longer with 2 very active German Short Hair Pointers and a 6 month old). However this place takes the stress out of the 12 hour drive. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, you feel right at home as soon as... More

It was a wonderful place to stay and I was really glad to stay there. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of space to play loads of board games. Colin was very friendly and even posted my drawing pad back to me after I had accidentally left it under the bunk bed.
