Stayed 2 nights. Location is very nice, near to beach and station. However, inside of the hostel is not so clean, especially kitchen. It's bad point. Good point is spacious and cozy living room. enjoyed reading books and watching Austraian open tennis there.

Booked this hostel as a part of my trip up Australia's eastcoast. From the outside, it looks very nice. An old building that looks very cozy. The inside however, is a different story entirely. Pros: * Friendly staff * Free surfboard/bodyboard usage * Great common area * Free dinner during some nights * 100m walk to the beach Cons: *... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, supposedly in a twin one night and a double the next as there wasn't room for 2 nights in either so we were going to have to check out and back in. Fortunately, we were very kindly upgraded to a family room for free without us asking, so we didn't have to move in and... More

Good place near the beach and the center of the town. But the room wasn't comfy and we had to pay for the WiFi. The common rooms are nice especially the living room. The building is really cute though and the staff is nice.

Cockroaches in the kitchen, cockroaches in the room, cockroaches in the shower, cockroaches in the toilet. Can't open windows at night because cockroaches fly in and there's NO fan so in the middle of the night you are sweating. Cleaners don't Hoover the floor so there's dead cockroaches under the bed. Not just normal cockroaches I'm talking giant ones! Only... More

We stayed here one night with 8 people in the dorms. The place has a good vibe and the rooms and amenities are very clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and wifi access is great. The lobby and common area is great to relax and has plenty of seating possibilities.

The place you stay at is beautiful. Everything was clean and well presented. The hire of surfboards and boogie boards for free is fantastic as the beach is so close. Be aware of the parking restrictions if you are taking a car as the area is all paid for parking but it is free late at night and parks were... More

Stayed for just the one night, staff friendly on arrival. Room very clean and good wifi access. Great vibe in common room. Even though I had checked out, I was still allowed to use the hostel facilities during my day in Newcastle. They even provided a free BBQ!

I stayed at this hostel on three different occasions during January February and March 2014. I had a private room here, and friends staying in dorm rooms and another private room also. The rooms were habitable, but not up to the standard you would expect at YHA. My private room was a waste of money.... The room was small and... More

Me and a friend stayed in this hostel for one night whilst travelling in Australia. But it was a really nice hostel very welcoming and cosy. We'd arrived really last and we'd made a mistake on our booking but they were really understanding and help us out!
