Nice staff, very helpful and friendly. The hotel looks like a 5 stars castle-hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are very spacious. Public areas are amazing, with nice furniture everywhere. Need maybe a bit more of animation but we stayedduring summer holidays and it is not really an holiday place. But if owners want to keep their place to an acceptable level,... More

We recently stayed for two nights. Property has been well transformed, rooms very spacy, clean linen and breakfast well presented but positives all end there. They lost our booking for a start. Reception staff nice enough but no idea of welcoming guests, communicating about the area, the hotel or handing out maps. (First time it is a very spread out... More

This is one of our favourite weekend getaways one hour from our northern address in Sydney. The executive Suites are spacious living although bathrooms are very compact. Comfy bed and sheets. We wouldn't eat on site and loved the breakfast in town at the art gallery.

We stayed here on Saturday night, having a concert to attend at the Hunter Valley. When we pulled up, I was a bit dubious, but I was pleasantly surprised once we walked inside. The building itself is very old, and the rooms were lovely and big. We had a spa room, and the room was very clean, nothing was needed... More

I was very surprised at how updated the inside of the hotel was. The outside doesn't match the inside so don't be fooled. Very happy with the stay. Rooms excellent. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely and with very large servings the only drawback there wasn't to much to choose on the menu. However would definitely stay again. Staff are... More

Don't be put of by the first appearance of this place when you park your car. It is a work in progress. It's a huge building and the owners are refurbishing it to a very high standard. The quality of the rooms and the dining room is something you'd expect in Sydney so fair play to the owners for bringing... More

I was surprised how modern the room was. It was quiet large and cosy. The hotel has a real Charm to it with a family run atmosphere. The owners were very warm and obliging and breakfast was In a lovely internal courtyard. The only downside is that it's a small trip to the vineyards but I would be back again... More

This hotel is in a beautifully restored old building. The room was clean, well presented and well provisioned. The sunken lounge area was fantastic as was the spa bath in the room itself. Perfect for a romantic night away. Reasonably priced as well.

I was part of a group of 18 who were in Maitland for Steamfest in April 2014. Our group leader booked us all into Monte Pio Motel. We were all very pleased with the quality of the establishment, rooms were spacious, well furnished, good bathrooms and spotlessly clean. The bar area and Restaurent/Breakfast area was excellent. This is an old... More
