Travelling through the desert from South Australia with my mate and one of my sons we needed a break from rough `swag' style camping. My mate had worked in Broken Hill and had stayed with Barb and Hugh many times before. This was my first experience with them and I was very impressed. Upon introductions Barb and Hugh had the... Thank you Craig and Wendy for your thoughtful review. The recipe for my Hollandaise Sauce is on our website, and we are blessed with having the best eggs in the world - laid by happy chooks who live on the banks of the Darling River at Menindee. We try to make our Breakfasts just that little bit special so that... More

One of the most comfortable bed and breakfast experiences i've ever had. Hugh and Barb made my stay in Broken Hill wonderful. I stayed 4 nights at the 'Cally' and didn't want to leave as it felt like a second home. The service was exceptional. There are a number of touches and thoughtfulness which in my opinion places this accomodation... More

I started staying at the Cally more than 7 years ago; the bit in the ad. about breakfast like mum's and the sheets smelling like sunshine was what convinced me then. The beds are truly wonderful, good quality white sheets, with just the right configuration of size, bedclothes and ambience. I have never been disappointed, in fact it still gets... More

Thank you Shirley M for your helpful review. It is a rare pleasure to be able to build long term relationships and we find that those who return become much more than customers. We are fortunate to have friends who stay with us - thanks and cheers - Hugh and Barb More

Always look forward to our stay with Hugh and Barb after housesitting in the Barossa. Feels like home and the conversations are always lively and interesting. A great breakfast and a few Anzac biscuits to help us on our travels. Thank you for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. .

Thanks Pam and Gary for your positive review - it is always a pleasure when regular travelers choose to return - it's a bit like when friends drop in unexpectedly. For Barb and I providing hospitality is not really a job - it's just living with lots of friends - and we always look forward to your visits - thanks... More

Another year at the St. Pat's races and Barb and Hugh accommodated us ( two couples ) in their Blue Wren Miner's Cottage. Suits us perfectly, Heritage mixed with mod cons and personal touches of Barb. Make sure you don't miss the breakfast at The Caledonian, it's just great. We've already booked Blue Wren for 2015.

Barbara and Hugh always have a warm welcome for us even at short notice, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We have stayed in Kookaburra, Blue Wren and Lavender and Lace cottages which are beautifully appointed, comfortable and convenient to all the facilities of Broken Hill. We also have the distinction of having stayed in every room at... More

After more than 8 years living and travelling around the world, I was finally back in the Aussie bush for a visit. Thank you JessieMF for your enthusiastic review - and you know you have highlighted one of the great benefits of staying at a B & B.
