Although Broken Hill has many hotels, most of them are not that good (based on my research, and tips from other travellers). If you have a bigger budget, you must stay at the Royal Exchange Hotel. It is the nicest hotel in Broken Hill (and most expensive, although I only paid $165 per night in the top Deluxe Balcony Room,... More

They have a honeymoon suite which opens to the verandah and right at the corner of the building. The room is large, clean & bed is very comfortable. The only major issue was the traffic lights- all day and all night you can hear the beep beep beep from the "ok to walk" noise. My wife found this quite unbearable... More

Behind a lovely renovated Art Nouveau facade lies this absolute gem! Even though the room was really tiny - we had chosen to take one with access to the balcony - it had all the necessary amenities and the bathroom was quite spacious. Highly recommended

What a fantastic example of Art Deco architecture beautifully renovated and very classy. The rooms vary in size but all are clean and comfortable. The dining room and is quite beautiful and the food is very good and innovative along with traditional Australian pub fare.

Just stopped in here to have dinner. In actual fact, we were initially looking for somewhere to have a drink (ie. a bar), and then dinner. We had some trouble finding the door, but were then welcomed outside by the owner/manager who said he was about to open up soon, and we were ushered inside. Was surprised to find out... More

We'd stayed four days, we found the room was very clean and was serviced daily. We found the room nice and quiet and couldn't hear our neighbours. We ate some of our meals at the restaurant and found very good selection of meals and they were delicious.

This hotel is situated in the centre of Broken Hill and provides all you could want. Thought it might be noisy but no, very quiet. Staff are great, friendly and able to assist with questions and information on local attractions. The food in the restaurant was delicious, well presented, and arrived hot even though restaurant was full. Breakfast had lots... More

Stayed here for a few nights, each night the restaurant was full and the noise travelled to the rooms. When the restaurant finished you then had cleaners spending hours moving furniture and banging around until late at night so sleep was near on impossible. So inconsiderate!! The rooms are OK but in desperate need of a refresh. Overpriced and won't... More

I stayed here on business and the facilities are very good. Whilst it is an old hotel, the rooms have a modern touch. I slept well and there is plenty of room. Parking is a hassle - I had to park down around the corner. It is well situated and the breakfast is very good. Gluten free options are available... More

I stayed at the Royal Exchange for a week in July. While my room was small by modern standards it didn't lack for anything. I didn't eat or drink at the restaurant in the hotel, preferring to venture out into the Silver City.
