What a little gem! I hadn’t planned anything in on my trek down the Princes Highway towards Melbourne but had always had in mind that I would crash in Batemans Bay. There are loads of motels in Batemans so the traveller is spoilt for choice. I drove around to get a feel for the various offerings and settled on the Comfort because it looked, well, comfortable and right by the town. The guy on reception was very friendly and helpful with local places to drink and eat (go to the Bayview Hotel, garden bar for a beer – it’s ok, really). There was one deluxe room left (no. 8) and he knocked it down to $115. Cool. It was a very nice, relaxingly light, air conned room with large queen bed and the best shower I’ve had in ages (powerful, large head, rain style). TV good – tick. And decent wireless internet for $5 an hour – bingo! That’s a hard find in Australia! Batemans bay is chilled and sweet and a good place to hang for an evening and the following morning.
