We stayed here for two nights but wish we have booked a few days longer, we don't want to leave. The cottage is very pleasant with a fully equipped kitchen and two places to have your meals all- fresco. The views are beautiful. Host Andre and Alison gives you good suggestion to explore the area. More

We stayed here for one night in February 2011 on our honeymoon. It is a lovely little B&B run by Andre and Alison who could not be more friendly and welcoming. The views from the place are beautiful, overlooking only unspoilt nature and we can very much recommend the outside hot tub. The home cooked dinner was delicious - which... More

Thank you Tony for taking the time to post a review of your stay with us. We are delighted you enjoyed Birds Ferry Lodge. It is such a shame that you did not appreciate the unique natural setting, for this is exactly why we chose to build in this fantastic semi-remote location, but we appreciate it is not for everyone!... Driving up to the Lodge you really feel as if you are are miles away from anywhere and you are, but the cottage is so well set up that you don't want to leave - the outside baths looking out over the sea, the beautiful meals provided by Andre and Alison - absolutely stunning! We often find when travelling through... More

We stayed at the Birds Ferry Cottage for 2 nights, with a package deal that included breakfast, champagne, massages and cottage dinner. We arrived after a spectacular drive and went straight to the cottage, which was clean and prepared for our arrival (with a special friendly welcome note awaiting us on the blackboard and a bottle of chilled bubbly). We... More

Driving up to the Lodge we were really excited to see the view of the hills and the coast in the distance. We were seeking quietness and were in need of a good rest. Alison greeted us with a warm smile and soon after made us a pot of tea accompanied by her homemade shortbread. We sat on the verandah... More

Bird Ferry Lodge is a a great place to stop but it is more than the sum of its parts. Yes the lodge is tasteful, fresh, quirky and yet full of modernity, The food is excellent, we had a wonderful dinner as well as an excellent breakfast and Andre and Alison are full of intelligent appropriate hospitality but most important... Andre and Alison are so warm and welcoming and the setting is way in the bush where silence prevails. They have created grounds with ponds, water features, are establishing an orchard and all dressed up by amazing driftwood that is Andre`s passion and collected from wild beaches that he is only to keen to share with you.The vegetable garden and greenhouses are... We were on a bicycle tour of the South Island, and our guide booked this place for the night. What a wonderful experience! The 33 acre site is replete with flowers, driftwood, orchards, gardens, and ponds. I think the decor and rooms must have all been upgraded in the last five or so years as everything was tastefully done in... More

Before we headed home after our New Year break we decided a final treat was required and we booked into the Birds Ferry Lodge for one night. After a great massage we were soon sitting down to a scrumptious dinner with two interesting fellow travellers. Andre & Alison were also very welcoming to our two dogs who enjoyed being able... More

This place is amazing, whether it is the driftwood sculptures and the water features everywhere you look, or the food which is so fresh out of their own organic gardens. The only sounds you will hear are the distant waves on the beach and the cries of kiwis and wekas. Andre and Alison are the perfect hosts, and know exactly... More
