Stayed here after some activities in Te Anau before heading to Milford Sound. Ray was an excellent host, very welcoming and friendly with great info on the area and tips for the drive to Milford Sound. The room itself was spacious, very clean and comfortable and we slept very well on the large bed. The bathroom was a fraction small... More

We stayed at Shakespear House B&B for two nights during our recent visit to Te Anau. This place reminds me of college dorm, whereby there is a row of rooms on the ground floor, with the "cafeteria" (dining room) is at the end of the hallway. Check in was really easy. We got into our room within 5 mins of... More

Situated on a quiet street on the edge of town a short walk from the lake. Comfortable accomodation and welcoming staff. Excellent cooked breakfast cooked by Ray not to be missed. Good stopover on way to Milford Sound.

This is a good choice for those wanting to travel on down to Milford Sound. It is within walking distance of the town centre as well on a quiet residential street. Lovely breakfast choice and free wifi. Very helpful owner who gave us some good advice about our trip to Milford Sound, for which we were very grateful.

My husband and I stayed just one night. We showed up hours earlier than the check-in, and Ray very kindly checked us in. You can do laundry here. We also had a very early morning start the next day (left at 6:45 AM) and Ray got up and made us a hot breakfast even before that. The hospitality here is... More

Friends who had stayed there in the past recommended Shakespeare House. We are glad that they did. It is situated in a quiet location near the lake in the pleasant little town of Te Anau, an ideal base from which to visit the magnificent Milfird Sound and Doubtful Sound. With 8 or 9 rooms this was the largest of the... More

Ray is an excellent host who provided us with a beautiful spread every morning for breakfast. Our room was lovely and clean and everything we needed for our comfort was provided. Ray thank you so much for our 3 day stay. You deserve the best reviews, you certainly earn them. One of the best B&B's and excellent value for money.... More

The Shakespeare House is more of a small hotel with a great hot breakfast. There is a nice atrium sitting area if desired. Other than a clean room and suitable lodging, the best part about this place is Ray, the owner, the cook, the front desk staff, etc. He did it all and always with a smile on his face... More

I chose Shakespeare House after reading the good reviews. I was so pleased I did. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was large with a very comfortable big bed. We had everything we needed - tea, coffee, tissues. The breakfast was exceptional. There was a choice of many different cereals, six types of fruit as well as... More

Ray makes the place very special, he's an excellent host. Rooms were basic but comfortable. In a lovely area, near beautiful walks. The breakfast was hot & filling, one of the best we had in New Zealand. We would recommend this B&B to anyone travelling to the stunning wilderness of Doubtful Sound.
