We found this motel to be good value for money with a most helpful manager, Robin, we didn't feel pressurised by him to buy excursions as other reviewers have reported. I would happily have given 5 stars if the second bedroom had been a bit larger, it is not really big enough but the main lounge and the other bedroom... More

Stayed for one night on our way around the South Island. Met on arrival by the owner Robin who explained all there was to know about the town, showed us around our accommodation and gave us a voucher for a couple of free drinks in the Moose. The rooms are dated but typical of what you find in NZ opening... More

We stayed two nights at the Red Tussock in the two bedroom unit as we had booked a cruise on Doubtful Sounds. On arrival, the owner, Robin, was very friendly and helpful, escorting me to our unit, explaining the tv etc and also giving restaurant recommendations including some vouchers for a free drink etc. The unit was older style and... We stayed here the night before and after walking the Kepler track. The host was incredibly helpful and friendly. He printed up-do-date detailed weather reports for us, and stored our luggage during the walk. He even carried all our heavy bags up to our room, ready for our return. We had 2 different rooms during our stay. Both were very... More

Check in. At first the manager's helpful information on cruises was charming.  After a few minutes we felt badgered to make a decision quickly and frankly wanted to get settled In after a long journey rather than discussing the next day's plans. Things got slightly irksome when he asked if we were driving to Milford sound. He told us that... More

We based ourselves here for the trip to Milford Sound. We found that the rooms were very spacious and well equipped. Robin - the owner - was very friendly and nothing was too much bother for him. He made our reservations for the Milford Sound trip and also pointed in the direction of good value eating and drinking places in... More

Stayed here 2 night in mid-January. The rooms are very comfortable and the owner Robin was exceedingly helpful. It's about a 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops. We would certainly stay here again on a future visit to Te Anu

We only had one night here, and our first experience of a motel - we were most impressed. Spotlessly clean, spacious room, very well equipped and Robin couldn't have been more helpful, with advice on where to eat (Moose was great) and things to do (the 35-minute film at the little cinema is a must). Highly recommended..

From the moment we arrived to the time we left the Red Tussock, the owner Robin couldn't have been more helpfull, he was always around if you needed him and whenever he saw us walking around he would check that everything was ok. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment, which was well appointed with all of the kitchen and... More

A stone throw from the lake and about 8 mins walk to the shops. Beautiful town. Robin, the manager is very friendly and gives us so much useful information. He is so passionate with his job We were upgraded to a huge apartment with 3 rooms but can sleep at least 12! Brilliant! We totally enjoyed ourselves.
