Te Anau Lodge is definitely a difficult review to write and rate. The lodge itself is beautiful. The craftsmanship of the re-build, the attention to detail, and the owner and staff are excellent and deserve 5 circles (no question). This would be a great experience for 1 night during a 'short' trip with minimal luggage. Having booked the Chapter Room... More

We were welcomed by George who immediately made us feel very relaxed. He showed us to our room overlooking the gardens which was spacious and very comfortable. He arranged for our cases to be delivered to our room. He was very helpful and gave excellent advice on the area and places to eat. For breakfast he provided quality food and... More

We were fortunate to be able to spend two nights in May in the Chapter Room. With Mark, George, and canine Ben as our hosts, we were in excellent hands. This inn is lovely. The grounds and views are amazing. I loved that our room was right next to the Library common room - I adopted it as our anteroom... More

We stayed in the Bishop's Retreat which was a stand alone building next to the lodge. It was comfortable and relatively quiet with a kitchenette and private bathroom. One minor negative was the front door - it would have been nice to have an awning or some type of covering over the door to prevent excess water being tracked into... More

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful lodge very much! The atmosphere in the lodge is excellent. Breakfast was delicious and our girls loved playing with Ben the labrador in the huge garden. I can definitely recommend this beautiful lodge!

We absolutely loved our time with George and his great staff. Our room, with jacuzzi, overlooked the vast lawn and chess set. Loved meeting and spending time with fellow travelers at breakfast (delicious) and over complimentary drinks in upstairs lounge. George wanted to ensure we each knew everything there was to do Ina no around Te Anau. When we were... More

We stayed here two nights, the first of which we were the only guests. We were greeted at the door by Ben the dog, who we fell in love with immediately. (He's only allowed in the entrance and office, he doesn't wander around the lodge.) George was the sweetest and most helpful host, and made our stay great. He even... More

The Te Anau Lodge has a very classy, European feel. It's got a B&B-esque style, but without that uncomfortable home invasion vibe that B&B's sometimes have. There are about 10 rooms and ours was very cosy and clean. The historic building is beautiful inside. The owner, Mark, is a very interesting, accomplished guy and well worth conversing with. The staff... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Te Anau Lodge. I made the booking many months before, and immediately received a warm and lengthy email of welcome from Adam and George, offering travel tips and recommendations during our visit. We booked a Milford Sound cruise with Southern Discoveries based on their suggestion, and it was one... More

We stayed at Te Anau Lodge for 3 nights in March and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The house is fabulous and the hosts and staff are utterly charming and helpful. The Lodge is an old convent set in lovely gardens and the rooms are beautiful including the breakfast room and the library which is for guests use and includes... More
