What a lovely place to stay! We were well looked after, we had a friendly, warm welcome. A comfortable, clean accommodation with great food in a stunning location! They helped with tours and held a wonderful chamber music festival at the church during our stay. Will forever remember this venue.

After 3 days of travelling and walking in Fiordland; the lovely comfortable bed, good hot shower and amazing breakfast ticked all the boxes. Especially of note was the relaxing guest lounge with complimentary tea/coffee/cake/wine, the butchers thick cut bacon for breakfast, the friendly host George and the lovely chocolate lab Ben. We will definitely be back for another stay.

We were made to feel so welcome. Adam the manager could not have been a better host. The location and the building itself exceeded expectations, breakfast was wonderful and nicely set us up for the rest of the day. Thank you to the staff at Te Anau Lodge, we can highly recommend it as a great place to stay.

Large B&B that was a former monastery – moved 100 miles to the TeAnu site. Our room was comfortable, breakfast terrific and we had a great view. B&B had a well-stocked lounge with beverages and yummy desserts and that gave us opportunities to meet with other guests and our hosts. Wonderful grounds and a great location just a short walk... Te Anau Lodge offers comfort and a warm welcome to travellers. Our room (“The Belfry”) was large with a king bed and a good sized bathroom with a shower. It had large windows and offered a pleasant view toward the lake. We enjoyed relaxing in the cozy lounge after a hard day of sightseeing and appreciated the complimentary beer and... More

We stayed here for 2 nights during our holiday on the South Island, and were made to feel so welcome by our host George, his friendly staff and his gorgeous dog, Ben. We stayed in several B and B's during our holiday, and this was by far our favourite. The building was unique, and the place felt like a real... More

The Te Anau lodge was one of the highlights of our trip. It starts with George, who makes you feel immediately at home and comfortable. He is kind, generous, and goes out of his way to create a pleasant atmosphere. The location is perfect too, a short drive outside of town, and overlooks the beautiful lake and mountains. We were... My friends and I were in the south island for 11 days and stayed at 9 places. Te Anau Lodge is be far my favorite. No only the building itself is very unique, but also the manager George really made it felt like home. It was very nicely decorated, and the breakfast was excellent. You don't usually associate convents with comfort, warmth, luxury, hospitality. Yet we experienced all of these at Te Anau Lodge. The host, George, and his staff made us welcome the moment we arrived, urging us to take advantage of all they have to offer - free drinks in the upstairs library/lounge, lift into town, open-air chess on the sprawling lawn... The proprietor, George, made our stay in the convent outstanding. He made us feel at home right away. He had recommendations about activities, restaurants and hiking. There was tea, coffee and wine with biscuits in the lounge area and a balcony overlooking the property or picnic tables to enjoy it on. The rooms are full of vintage furnishings with updated... More
