The Te Anau Lodge has a very classy, European feel. It's got a B&B-esque style, but without that uncomfortable home invasion vibe that B&B's sometimes have. There are about 10 rooms and ours was very cosy and clean. The historic building is beautiful inside. The owner, Mark, is a very interesting, accomplished guy and well worth conversing with. The staff... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Te Anau Lodge. I made the booking many months before, and immediately received a warm and lengthy email of welcome from Adam and George, offering travel tips and recommendations during our visit. We booked a Milford Sound cruise with Southern Discoveries based on their suggestion, and it was one... More

We stayed at Te Anau Lodge for 3 nights in March and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The house is fabulous and the hosts and staff are utterly charming and helpful. The Lodge is an old convent set in lovely gardens and the rooms are beautiful including the breakfast room and the library which is for guests use and includes... More

My sister and I stayed at Te Anau Lodge at the end of January. We loved it! The house is charming and George does his best to make everyone welcome and his freshly baked muffins at breakfast were a real treat. It may be a while before we go back to New Zealand, but we will definitely stop at Te... More

The B&B hosted in this old convent was absolutely charming. Lovely woodwork, and breakfast is served in a beautiful room with stained glass windows. Food was quite good too. There is also a fantastic library to hang out in. The owners were very nice and since people were hanging out in the library we got to meet some interesting fellow... More

This ex convent is set in beautifully landscaped gardens and offers a variety of rooms. Tastefully decorated in keeping with the buildings history and offering guests a whole host of extras, such as wine, bear and home made cakes, which can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own room or in the beautifully appointed library in the company of... Our room was next to the kitchen and dining room - quite noisy. Small room with tiny bathroom (impossible for two people in there at the same time). Convenient for Te Anau town not that there's much there worth going for!

We too have stayed in a lot of fabulous places in New Zealand and all over the world but I agree with what the last person said. There is something just "over and above" about George and the level of service that he provides and must ingrain in every member of his staff. There is not a beat skipped by... More

This Bed and Breakfast in Te Anau is absolutely wonderful. We have travelled all over the world and are spending a month in New Zealand. Our standards are high and we highly recommend this lovely small boutique hotel to anyone coming to enjoy the natural wonders of Fiordland. The facilities are beautiful, with lovely grounds, a great breakfast, comfortable common... More

The gateway to Milford and Doubtful Sounds. George Garden is absolutely the consummate professional. He catered to our every need with enthusiasm and style!! Picking a room that suits your needs is important. Classy in every way. Out of town by 15 minute brisk walk, so a car is helpful. Would stay again without a doubt.
