First impressions were that this was a very unusual place with the exterior decor of the rooms in the form of a colonial New Zealand town/village. The room was functional and clean with a good-sized comfortable bed and cooking facilities if required. The staff were exceptionally friendly and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Special mention for Daniel... More

Located about 2 minutes walk from main street. Well appointed rooms well serviced. Good value at about one forty five per night for a couple. The only negative was that they charge for Internet access. Street appearance is not fancy but rooms are nice inside.

After coming from incredible accommodations in Queenstown, this place lack luster. No AC, no WIFI, dated and tired room/bath, no fans for the room to circulate the air. I don't know - everything is booked at this time of the year in NZ, so hard to say what the other places look like. This is ok but sure not great!

If you like space and cleanliness you will love this place. It has it's own kitchinette with electric hob, microwave, sink etc. TV but not many channel to choose from but this is the case across New Zealand. Parking outside your front door. Very quiet Comfy bed No meal option when we were there. 5 min walk to the lake.... More

Hi thanks very much for you comments regarding The Village Inn, we are glad you enjoyed your room and your stay. I must say you did make me laugh with your comments about the 'room/dust check', but that does make us proud. I have printed your review out to share with our housekeeper and her team, often the hardest workers... More

Enjoyed our stay at the Village Inn - room was quiet, clean and spacious with comfortable bed and easy chairs. The room also had a useful kitchenette and an office desk. Pleasant staff. Location was quiet but only a 4 minute walk to the lake or through the park to the main street. We will definitely return next time we... More

Cute place with themed buildings. Front desk staff helpful and have gone extra mile to help resolve a booking/payment issue with the booking company. Clean and spacious rooms with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. Laundry washer and dryer very old. Also there was a queue to make use of the one machine. When the dryer didn't dry our clothes... Hi thanks so much for the kind comments regarding the Village Inn. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that your room was comfortable. Sometimes when the hotel is quite full we do get a bit of a line up for the guest laundry, and if you had mentioned to reception that the dryer did... More

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights whilst road tripping to and from Milford Sound (which is outstanding). Pros: friendly staff, clean room, reasonably spacious, parking, Walking distance to the lake and amenities. Cons: very dated, no kitchenette which would be beneficial in such a remote little town, no free wifi, staff didn't advise over places to eat,... More

hi thank you for your positive comments regarding the Village Inn, and for taking the time to post them. We do have a few units with kitchenettes and if guests request these we do our utmost to make sure they are accommodated with these extra facilities. Room was spacious but the entire place has a ghost town feeling. Really scary to stay alone but I have a large family so was alright. The toilet was not cleaned when we check in and it still had human bowels in it! By the way, my TV was a pathetic small little CVT! Ancient man! I can't believe it... More

Hi I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay at the Village Inn, and I am also as aghast as yourself that your bathroom was not cleaned properly. I did talk with the receptionist that was on shift when you arrived and discovered this, and she did say that you were offered another unit, but chose not to change.... More

Stayed here for one night on our coach trip around New Zealand. As mentioned some of the rooms have a frontage to resemble on old Wild West town although ours was not as it was at the back. Good size with all amenities but somewhat tired and not up to the standard of most other hotels we stayed in. About... More

thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Village Inn, as you said the units are of a good size, and that is a positive that alot of our guests do comment on. Some of our standard units, which I presume is what you were accommodated in, will be receiving a much needed face lift during... More

We stayed at the village inn before our hike in nov 2014, it is a simple but nice hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast is also nice and they offered to cook our eggs to our liking. Friendly staff. I would recommend and come back anytime.
