We stayed just the one night at this hotel. It is a nice walk along the lakefront and under 10 mins in to the town centre. The room was clean and tidy, we asked for a twin room, which had two doubles which was great. Staff were all friendy and had good knowlege of the area. Would recommend to others... More

Hotels are comparatively expensive in Te Anau and unfortunately don't/won't offer a corresponding leap in service. I suspect they're complacent because so many of Fiordland's "Great Walks" begin and end from Te Anau and they have the proverbial captive audience. Despite my booking way back in January, we were put into the annex section of the hotel, across a small... More

Dear Viaggio46 Thank you for your feedback. I apologise regarding the lack of hot water. Even when the hotel is full, our system is designed to ensure hot water is available to every guest regardless of the time. I have asked our maintenace team to look into this incident. We stayed here for a night either side of walking the Milford Track. It's very close to the Dept of Conservation office, so handy for collecting trail passes etc. It's an easy 10 minute walk to the main street. Rooms were nice, if nothing special, but we had no milk to make tea, and the toiletries were skimpy - no... More

We stayed one night at the Kingsgate Hotel in Te Anau. We were in a ground floor room (310) that did not have a view of the lake. There was a picnic table in the courtyard area, and the laundry room was nearby. The hotel is located on the lakefront, but quite a ways down from the center of town.... More

First of all, I'd like to give credit to the reception lady who checked us in and out, she was very nice and gave us good information of what we can do and see around the area. She also warned us of the road condition before our departure. However, it was the cleanliness of the hotel room that really disappointed... More

Dear Betty K Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. I apologise you found the condition of the room unacceptable. We are currently in the process of spring cleaning all our rooms to ensure the high levels of cleaniness we would expect are maintained. Kind regards Nick L Hotel Manager More

Where to start. The front desk staff were more interested in each other than the guests. No air conditioning. The windows opened, but no screens. Mattresses were old and uncomfortable. The restaurant was pretty much in chaos most of the time and the food wasn't at all good. I got the feeling these folks weren't trying very hard at all.... More

We started for two nights - wow! What a fantastic position this hotel has. Beautiful lake front location within easy reach of the bars, restaurants and amenities. The staff were lovely and helped with our baggage - no lift... They also were great at helping us to organise a couple of trips. Fantastic to gave a good value laundry for... More

A spacious room upstairs (no lift), it provided basic and comfortable amenities. Upon arrival, the desk staff were very nice and welcoming. Access to the upper floor was by a narrow stairway. Not bad for me with a small rolling bag, but be careful with large luggage. My room overlooked the lawn in the back. With my room being stuffy,... More

What a great location! A very small town but when you walk out the door and see the lake...ahhhhh! Also a lovely walk after dinner was the perfect way to end a long travel day. Our rooms were quite ready when we arrived so the management treated us to a drink at the bar - fantastic! The rooms were quaint... More

My husband & I stayed for 1 night as a jump off point for our Milford Sound cruise at 9am the following day. When we arrived, we couldnt find a parking spot, so we had to park all the way at the other side of the hotel, which meant we had to carry all our luggages & stuff to our... More
