Stayed here overnight heading to Milford Sound. Wanted to save some money so booked a cheaper room - big mistake for us! After an hour or so my partner and I started coming up in bites and itching. Went to reception where staff was just as horrified as we were! Room was closed off and we were provided with disinfectant... More

Hotel... Well it does have an indoor pool (in a tin shed and authentic over chlorinated stench), a golf course Right outside our door (but they can't find the golf clubs or balls), a "Retro" bar (but I'm not sure that counts if they just haven't renovated anything in 40 years), an in room hi-fi system (installed in the wall... Despite mixed reviews, I booked a room at the fiordland hotel/motel for my husband, myself, and our 14 month old daughter. The hotel is a hodgepodge. There are rooms for backpackers, self-catering units, and hotel rooms. We got upgraded to the newly renovated rooms and were rather pleased. The room was spotless and the bathroom with tub was clean (two... More

Great value for money, rooms are clean, with all the necessary amenities of heaters, electric blankets, hair dryers, tv, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, clean bathrooms. The management/reception (namely, the Scottish lad named Malcolm) is super cheerful and extremely helpful. Gives the hotel a cozy, friendly feel. The hotel part looks newer than the motel part, so book the hotel rooms.

Stayed a night on our recent trip in Oct. New owners (can't remember their names) were the friendliest people we've met in NZ. Newly renovated rooms, spacious and clean. Feels like a university hostel (perhaps due to its layout) overall good place. It'll be even better in the coming months when the owners get the restaurant up and running.

we stayed here last year in some family units they have closer to town, however they were unavailable this time as they had not been cleaned, instead they offered us a 2 bedroom unit in the complex at an acceptable rate. The unit was TIRED but all in all ok and given it was wet and cold , not to... More

We chose to stay here for one night on the way to Milford Sound, and we didn't want to face an extremely long drive from Queenstown. Checking in was easy enough, staff were friendly and efficient. The room itself is VERY basic, and quite small. For the amount we paid for the room ($70 AUD) we weren't expecting much, but... More

More than 1km outside the city centre, but with a nice location, our room had some views to the lake Te Anau. We've stayed in a Regency Room, an upgrade from the cheaper room available which was a nice option because was very roomy. We got mixed feelings about the room because it has a modern look with pretty bed... More

When we pulled into the hotel's driveway my heart sank. The compound looked old and tired, more 'motel' than 'hotel' in any sense. However our hotel room was surprisingly pretty and new. Everything was sparkling clean, neat and in place, reminiscent of 5 star hotels. The room must have been newly renovated. Had a restful night of sleep - Te... More

We booked 3 nights at this Motel based on the photos we were presented with on our computer screen. Unfortunately, on checking in, we were advised (by a slightly disinterested person ), that our family unit was an "off site" location approx 2km's from the ADVERTISED location. We arrived at our unit to find it clean but very dated and... More
