My husband and I road tripped from Auckland to Te Anau and back in two weeks (yes, we're Americans, ha) for our honeymoon last year and splurged on a one night stay in Dusky Ridges - what an incredible highlight of our trip, and a gorgeous apartment after spending the rest of the trip in hostels and campsites. We were... More

My only wish is that we had more than one night at this beautiful property; everything has been thought of. With fresh brownies, bread and muesli ready on our arrival and an absolutely amazing owner to greet us and let us know about the property and Te Anau. One of the greatest aspects of this property was its secluded nature,... More

This is a glorious spot with incredible views overlooking the rolling hills, lake and mountains beyond. The idyllic landscape is dotted with sheep and deer that are raised on the property but there are a variety of farm "pets" that are friendly...all with names and distinct personalities that make for a unique experience. Speaking of personalities, the hosts, Win and... More

I received a very warm welcome from Win, the hostess, both on the telephone and in person, and immediately felt at home. The cottage is a beautifully appointed detached building next to the Dusty Ridge farmhouse. The furnishings are tasteful with attention to detail, and small touches such as organic plunger coffee, quality toiletries, magazines, warm homemade bread and a... More

What a stunning place! The scenery is postcard-worthy, the accommodation is luxurious and the hospitality is tremendous! There was even a freshly baked (still warm) loaf of delicious bread waiting for me upon arrival. The bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to get out of it. I was sad to leave but will return one day. Thanks for... More

I cannot recommend highly enough Dusky Ridges as a gateway stop to Milford Sound. Just outside Te Anau, with panoramic views of the lake, the chalet is stunningly beautiful. We were welcomed with a delicious homemade brownie and spotless, beautifully decorated accommodation. I loved the small touches such as the Whittaker's goodies, stylish magazines and natural sandfly spray (needed for... More

Dusky Ridges is a fabulous property and offers a modern and comfortable farm stay. The rooms are nice, the bathrooms are large and the living area is well appointed and comfortable. If you are looking for a farm stay then this will also give you a good experience of interacting with goats, sheep, alpaca, chickens and deers! Our experience got... More

I doubt there would be anywhere better to stay to see Milford Sound. We actually enjoyed this farm stay more than Milford Sound itself so book 2 nights to give yourself some time to spend on the property. The entire property is absolutely beautiful. Win kindly showed us the farm animals and let us feed some of them. She told... More

My family of 6, inclusive of two elderly grandparents and two children aged 10 and 7, stayed at Dusky Ridges for a night in December 2014. We occupied both the chalet and the double bedroom units. From the first email contact, Win showed herself as a really fantastic individual, very friendly and accommodating. She was very patient in answering all... More

You must stay here if you intend to see Milford and /or Doubtful Sound. Win and Henrik were kind and welcoming and the property is absolutely breathtaking!!! The view and the two bedroom cottage were amazing. This stay is self contained with breakfast provisions provided to cook on your own. The cottage is so clean and fresh and light. I... More
