I cannot recommend highly enough Dusky Ridges as a gateway stop to Milford Sound. Just outside Te Anau, with panoramic views of the lake, the chalet is stunningly beautiful. We were welcomed with a delicious homemade brownie and spotless, beautifully decorated accommodation. I loved the small touches such as the Whittaker's goodies, stylish magazines and natural sandfly spray (needed for... More

Dusky Ridges is a fabulous property and offers a modern and comfortable farm stay. The rooms are nice, the bathrooms are large and the living area is well appointed and comfortable. If you are looking for a farm stay then this will also give you a good experience of interacting with goats, sheep, alpaca, chickens and deers! Our experience got... More

I doubt there would be anywhere better to stay to see Milford Sound. We actually enjoyed this farm stay more than Milford Sound itself so book 2 nights to give yourself some time to spend on the property. The entire property is absolutely beautiful. Win kindly showed us the farm animals and let us feed some of them. She told... More

My family of 6, inclusive of two elderly grandparents and two children aged 10 and 7, stayed at Dusky Ridges for a night in December 2014. We occupied both the chalet and the double bedroom units. From the first email contact, Win showed herself as a really fantastic individual, very friendly and accommodating. She was very patient in answering all... More

You must stay here if you intend to see Milford and /or Doubtful Sound. Win and Henrik were kind and welcoming and the property is absolutely breathtaking!!! The view and the two bedroom cottage were amazing. This stay is self contained with breakfast provisions provided to cook on your own. The cottage is so clean and fresh and light. I... More

We stayed in the new chalet. Beautiful lodging, very comfortable bed, amazing scenery, hearty breakfast, and lovely hosts. Win and Henrick really added to the experience. Would strongly recommend staying here, and if we come back we're sure to look them up again!!

We stayed here for one night on our way back from Milford Sound. The 2 bedroom farmhouse is charming and very comfortable. It is certainly a very peaceful and picturesque location. Our kids really enjoyed spending time with the lovely farm animals including feeding Kate the sheep and collecting fresh farm eggs. We all voted our farm stay at Dusky... More

We met the owner 'Win' at the property and she brought us some pellets to hand feed the sheep and deer. The open plan room is perfect. Comfortable bed / Clean bathroom / Deck to catch the afternoon sun. The gardens and grounds are presented immaculately. We were provided with Venison sausages, bacon, fresh bread and eggs. The eggs were... More

My husband and I spent nearly a month touring the South Island of New Zealand on our honeymoon. We stayed at a number of eco lodges (all found in the Green Journeys handbook) and farm stays and Dusky Ridges is hands down our favorite stay in all of the South Island. We were fortunate to lodge in DR's 2-bedroom after... More

We stayed here for three nights on our tour of New Zealand. The farm is a couple of km outside of Te Anau and set in a beautiful location, down its own 1km long driveway with views of the surrounding hills and mountains. It’s a very peaceful location. The accommodation is modern and exceptionally comfortable. We have a very spacious... More
