This hotel is in a great Location , just 5 minutes walk in to the centre of Queenstown , (down hill on way there ,up hill on way back). The area the hotel is in is very quiet ,I personally would not want to stay in the centre as Queenstown as it is fairly touristy / busy. This hotel is... more

This little hotel is the best kept accommodation secret in Queenstown. A quick five minute stroll to the QT CBD (longer to come back after a night on the town) makes its location location location just perfect. Tania (manager) and her rarely seen hubby make you feel welcome from the first foot in the door. Try the brekky - it... more

We stayed for three nights at this hotel which was booked for us by our tour operator. We cannot believe that it carries a 5* rating. There is no restaurant, no bar, no porterage, no lift and the hotel is NOT 3 minutes away from the town - it is 15 minutes and all uphill on the way back. We... more

We just returned from our honeymoon trip to New Zealand and stayed in a variety of accomodations over a two week period. We booked our 2 night stay at Mountvista based on all of the wonderful feedback on tripadvisor. Unfortunately, this hotel is quite ordinary. While the room was large, the bathroom was aweful (no sign of the luxury that... more

We stayed at Mountvista for 4 nights and found it to be one of the best hotels we've stayed at. Tanya the Manager and all the staff went out of their way to make sure me and my very pregnant wife were comfortable. The rooms were very cosy and warm, and the location was just a 2 minute walk to... more

We stayed at Mountvista after looking for a small boutique style hotel and we found what we were looking for. The rooms were very spacious and modern whilst still remaining cosy and warm. We were skiing on the local slopes and after putting our gear in the boot room we were in the perfect location for walking around the town... more

My husband and I stayed at the boutique hotel during our honeymoon. Luckily, we wanted to be alone because there was literally no one around, except during breakfast and pre-dinner drinks. They always had a sign on the desk to ring if someone needed assistance but for the most part we felt like we had the hotel to ourselves, which... more

The staff is extremely helpful and Tonya is the best. All of our activities were arranged by Tonya and she did so with such pleasure. The rooms are OK, a little warm and womb like since there is no A/C and the building is somewhat built into the side of a hill. No real view to speak of. Wine and... more

I have been reading the reviews on this hotel and I am mystified as to why it is receiving so many raving reviews. I live in the South Island of New Zealand and am fortunate to frequently visit Queenstown. I had the mis fortune of choosing this "hotel" on one occasion. This is not a hotel but mearly an upmarket... more

What the Mountvista is not is a huge impersonal American style resort so people expecting that would be disappointed. What it is, is a delightful, friendly and personal hotel where every possible guest comfort has been carefully thought about and provided. The personal welcome by Tania and her team was second to none and we particularly enjoyed the chance to... more
