Slap bang in the middle of town, this is a pretty average YHA hostel. En-suits are a good idea, but a touch dated, view of the airconditioning units and the building opposite 5 ft away from dorm. But more than made up for with the amazing view from the good kitchen and lounge area. Right over the lake and mountains,... More

Only here briefly, but had a good experience! There are some hostels with nicer rooms in Queenstown, but I had no complaints. Centrally located it's easy to walk anywhere around town, and the staff are very friendly and helpful if you want to book activities More

Just stayed at the YHA in Queenstown. It was my first youth hostel experience in over a decade. It was a good one. The location was great. Easy to get to the pick up location for the Intercity bus tours and trips. Shared a room with 4 other woman, and it was easy. No one really spoke to each other,... More

Plonked right on the main street of Queenstown this place is central to everything. It's just your usual youth hostel with nothing too outstanding. More

YHA central is on shotover street right in the center of the action but if you are trying to sleep, a pub crawl exits a nearby bar around 11 or 12 each night and they are extremely loud. The hotel itself is quiet but the street can be wild, especially in the summer. After midnight however it was slightly easier... More

Great advice on what to do and where to go. there are some adventures and some have free pick up - you really need good advice and a chance to talk to those who have done them. Great stay at YHA More

My partner and I only stayed for one night as a stopover on the way to Te Anau. We were a little disgruntled to find that there was no parking although the reception lady did direct us to some free, untimed on-street parking a few blocks away. This may have been a problem if we'd booked in for longer and... More

OK, let's get the bad bits out of the way. No off street parking (I had arranged, when booking, to park at the sister YHA a kilometer away, but they were full too), but there's several hours available overnight on the street and a car park building across the road. Lots of stairs up to the kitchen area, not so... More

40 years since we have stayed in a Youth Hostel and boy have they changed !! Arrived to find Queenstown very full and after being quoted NZ$300 for a lake view room in the Novotel someone suggested this place. We got a lake view private room with bath for a third of the price !! Room was clean and cleaned... More
