I booked this because the location was great and to get a private room with ensuite was a pretty reasonable price - compared to others nearby at proper hotels. I was well aware that this is a hostel and should expect a bit of riff raff - we are not oldies and enjoy or nights out too - but after... More

Clean room, friendly staff, expensive room (but that was our fault for not booking in advance). We got he only room left in queenstown for the night which was twice as big as we wanted, and so we overpaid. Everything else was good though, decent toilet/bathroom, decent bed, nice looking kitchen. Excellent location, right in the middle of town, but... More

This YHA pales in comparison with the others we've been to (i.e. Rolleston House in Christchurch and Rotorua). The ensuite bedroom with double bed and bunk is small and not so new. Good think it has the same service as other YHA: friendly and accommodating staff. Corridors are heated as well as the lobby which is a plus as we... More

I am quite sure there are better hostels in queenstown but it's not a failure to stay in this one. It's quite AND central which is a good combination. But that's everything. The lounge and kitchen is closed really early and there is nothing else to do than sleeping. Which is totaly okay! But i's just nothing special.

I stayed four days in YHA Queenstown Central in a double room with private bathroom. The room was very nice and clean with a small balcony with view to the mountain. The location is also great: right on the city centre. The staff were very kind and helpful. Highly recommended place!

This has to be one of the better YHAs I've stayed in there was a "hip" vibe about it and I felt instantly welcome from the day I arrived. It was a short walk from the Athol St bus stop to the YHA which was really good, especially with several pieces of luggage. I had a few financial issues and... More

Overall, the room I stayed was clean, neat and tidy. It was very spacious too. Toilet was also very clean. Kitchen was very spacious and well equipped. Warm and cosy place to stay. Only thing is that the price is slightly on the high side.

Trying to sleep here is akin to curling up in the corner of a raving bass-booming nightclub. I expected it to be loud but not that loud.! Very tired and unable to enjoy the next day properly. Despite facilities being generally clean and big kitchen/lounge area, rooms are cramped with little space to store bags, just under the lower bunks.... More

Revisiting YHa Queenstown Central for the second time after 2 years, things seemed to be the same as last time I stayed here. The hostel was perfectly located which was in the town centre, few steps to the lake. Staff was friendly and nice. Room was clean and spacious though my roommates were messy and one of them "stole" my... More
