this hotel is not bad, but its not great either. i was able to check in early' a huge plus. my room was clean and comfortable, but the furniture tired looking, and the bed was too soft. had dinner at the restaurant which offered an excellent $10 fish and chip special. there was a ski drying room, but it was... Bought a voucher to stay here via Grab one, so was good value for money. I wasn't impressed at all by the room. This hotel really needs a renovation and soon! Everything was looking dated and on the verge of falling apart. The heater in the room worked when it felt like it. And the shower alternated between boiling and... More

After the storms ravaged the South Island in April 2014, our holiday plans were in a shambles and we booked this hotel online with few other options. That being said, the hotel was fairly good, with some pleasant surprises but a few disappointments keeping it from getting a higher rating. Firstly, the hotel seems to cater to large groups -... We went here based on an online deal and also celebrated our wedding's anniversary. Our room was upgraded without a cost. Honestly, we were quiet aware with previous reviews about this hotel, however, when we got here, our awareness proved us wrong. The room was marvelous and warm, even warm enough for the kids. They loved to stay in this... More

Great overall experience. Thank you to Haden, Manoj, Shiv and Nikki for making us feel so welcome. The chefs in the hotel restaurant are top class - the food was outstanding every night and the weekend specials are excellent value for money! Be sure to ask about them. Even the locals come in to enjoy the food. Situated a little... More

Lovely staff, more like family than staff really. Nothing too much trouble. Upgraded our room to a lake view, when I asked why the receptionist said because your are nice people. Restaurant was lovely with great views, food was very good and reasonably priced. Rooms were in need of decorating and bringing into 21st century but they were clean and... More

Have just returned from two nights at the aspen. We had booked into a standard room which was ready and prepared for us on arrival, however we decided to upgrade to a lakefront view room for an extra $30/night- very good we thought. We got put into a room which unfortunately had a hole in the roof and was leaking... More

Hello Jessica T Thank you for your review and please accept my apologies for the problems you encountered during your stay with us. Regarding the leak in the ceiling of room 417. Upon investigation, we discovered the header tank on the ceiling had sprung a leak that was leaking into a cavity directly above your room. I am glad to... More

A previous visit had problems but we decided to give the place another try due to the great location. We were upgraded to another room that was freshly decorated and furnished. Very smart and nicely presentated. Good bed which also helped. Full marks to all the staff who went out of the way to help. Nothing was a problem. Yes,... More

Was a comfortable stay. Some rooms have better view than others - so make sure while booking. Very pleasant staff at restaurant. Wifi connection is modestly priced but less than desirable speeds. Better to use the computers in the lobby. Lobby was pleasant with a log fire.
