I would not recommend this hotel for a family. The family room is very basic and small. There was a bed in the living room, with 2 bunker beds in a single room - the bunk beds creaked a lot/made sounds whenever we moved, making it almost impossible to sleep! One room for 5 people to stay in made it... more

We stayed 4 nights at Gold Ridge at an online price that's comparable to what we've been paying for motels around the South Island. So we weren't expecting too much (it being a 3 star hotel), but the room and service you get really gives you the feeling of having extra comfort, compared to staying at (really good) motels. The... more

We stayed at the Goldridge a couple of weeks back at the begining of August. We found it to be a very comfortable hotel. They are upgrading rooms at the moment and we booked the Superior Lake view. The price was fantastic for what the room is. We had a top floor room with a balcony and the view made... more

In June I stayed at different times in a Lakeview Room and one of the other rooms (without a lake view). The Lakeview room was nicer - in better condition and really did have a great view across the arm of the lake and the Remarkables. Makes it a room you can relax in - maybe by reclining on your... more

This place grew on me! On arrival, I was disappointed with the room - it was, as another reviewer has mentioned, a typical uninspiring motel room - and it did smell a bit musty. But it was spacious and bright, with a balcony giving THE most amazing views over the lake out towards Queenstown (I think we paid a little... more

We stayed 6 nights, and enjoyed most aspects of this hotel. The room was more like a motel room, with inadequate seating for watching television. The staff were excellent, including the Manager, who was interested in our comments. The breakfasts in the restaurant were very good, but our one evening dinner was a great disappointment. Of course, at this time... more

We stayed here for two nights in Jan 2009. The hotel is about 4 km from the centre of Queenstown,a bit of a walk or short bus ride away. It is sited on raised ground and has great views of the lake and surrounding hills and mountains. Rooms are plain and comfortable, the beds are fine and the bathroom a... more

We were booked in for 3 nights at this hotel. We had to move rooms as the first room we were allocated had a wet and smelly carpet. Our plans changed and we decided to leave after 2 nights. On the morning of departure there was no hot water. We were given 2 other rooms to shower in (the 2nd... more

We stayed for two nights at the Goldridge in January as part of a coach tour of South Island. It is out of town and is a steep walk from the bus stop, but we found the location to be ideal, with beautiful view over the lake. There is a convenient regular bus service which runs from Queenstown, or you... more

The hotel is not in the city center. It is situated on the hill around 3 KMs from the city center which the guest could see part of the Remarkable behind the lake and the other mountain. The room is nice and clean. The facilities are in good shape. The hotel has a free shopper bus service which brings a... more
