My favourite thing about Pinewood Lodge is the grounds, beautifully located right next to the mountains. Lots of trees and big open space, opposed to the majority of other backpackers in Queenstown which are all within one building and cramped for space. I was in L block which had its bathroom and showers so you don't have to go outside.... More

For the price you paid it was actually very good, no problem with any of the facilities, I have stay at other places where I paid more and got less. Went in winter for skiing, room was actually too hot, had to turn down the heater. If you go to Coronet Peak for skiing, the pre-paid bus has bus stop... More

Basic but comfortable accommodation, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Met friends in town centre for food etc, so didn't use all the services, but I enjoyed the welcome, the clean bedroom and would have no hesitation in staying again.

We are a group of dental students studying at Otago that use Pinewood lodge annually (this is at least the 5th year we have run it) as our accommodation for the Annual Dental Ski Trip. The trip usually takes between 60 and 100 students each year and we have found Pinewood to be the best in the business for groups... More

Wi-Fi is weak and there are no desk and chair in the room, and people we are staying with in our unit are enjoying the TV in the living room most of the evening, so we have to go to "the Hub", the only common area available when we need a quiet place. Just when a few of us were... More

Myself and three friends stayed at Pinewood in July from Australia. It was a great location, close to town and beautiful views outside our unit. The staff were always very friendly and willing to help out. We were able to book a number of activities through them including Shotover Jet and Gondola ride which was nice and easy. Accommodation is... More

Me and my friends from the States did SE Asia, Australia and NZ and found this to be one of our favorite accommodations. Its as cheap as your typical backpackers, but instead of being crammed in and suffering a small kitchen with many other users we had our own communal area and living space which is shared with a few...
