Stayed here for a week and were mostly happy. Our room was big and clean with a comfortable bed, not luxury that's for sure but has everything you need after a day on the mountain. The only bad thing about this hotel for us was the one hour free wifi. Paying for wifi was common years ago but most hotels around... More

We stayed one night here as part of a two week holiday. We had a room up the back that provided a great view of the city. Well located within easy walk of the city and the room was welll appointed, quaint and reasonably priced. We did endure a power fail during our stay but the staff were very friendly... More

All the rooms face the direction of the lake and there are 3 floors per building. Was given a ground floor room where the balcony is right next to the loading bay of the car park though I have made a request in my booking for a lake view. So every now and then, especially the early morning, you will... More

We stayed here in March of 2014 for one night prior to hiking the Routeburn. Our goal was an inexpensive place to lay our heads and organize gear. The staff is welcoming but the place is really dated, especially the bathroom needs a redo. Parking was tough – very crowded and a weird lot to pull into where you had... More

The staff at the heartland hotel were fantastic. They were really helpful with getting our lost luggage to us and helpful with booking tours. Our room was always clean, however we did find the room to be a bit cold. Great location with less than a 5 min walk into the CBD.

Great location and views! All staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day before heading up to the mountain for a ski. The walk up the hill from town was a bit of a work out but, not to much of a problem. Walking distance to everything and close to pick up... More

We stayed here for one night and the staff were great. Pointed out good places to eat and were in the room within minutes of us calling to say a heater wasn't working properly. The view was incredible. You can see the Remarkables in one direction, the gondola in the other and the lake right ahead. We ate dinner at... More

The reception staff were polite and welcoming. Room was average and we felt like we were stuck in a dungeon as we had to go down 3 flights of stairs down to our room from the main road at the top of the hill. The room smelt damp and the deco was dated. The room had aircon which made the... More

Fantastic hotel! Great central location makes for a quick and easy walk to town. The staff there were very kind and friendly, and went out of their way to helped me with my romantic surprise for my partner. Highly recommended, and I would gladly stay at Heartland again.
