We stayed at the Nugget Point Dec 30-Jan 1, 2009. Queenstown itself is an amazing place and Nugget Point is about 10 minutes outside of town, perched on a rise above the river. The hotel is boutique but run very well. We had booked an Alpine view room, thinking that it was facing the mountains we saw in the pictures.... more

Presidential Suite(316- this is the best of 4) The room: Very large, very comfortable, great view over the shotover river with a Jakuzzi on the balcony. The location: 20 minute out of town. The advertised shuttle service very infrequent and inflexible. Cab fare NZD 30 each direction. The food & bar: the breakfast buffet is somewhat basic and definitely not... more

We stayed for two great nights at this fabulous luxury hotel located in an easy to find and idyllic spot just outside Queenstown. The hotel was a real treasure trove of interesting and high quality decor and furnishings from around the world. The owner, whom we met on several ocassions during our stay, was incredibly helpful and interesting. The staff too were very... more

On our 4 week trip to New Zealand, this was the hotel I was looking forward to staying in the most from reading the reviews and looking at the photos. The room was certainly the nicest and the service was impeccable, we were met on time at the airport and the two ladies on Reception (Helen and ?) were friendly,... more

After a somewhat disappointing few days in the Bay of Islands where the "kiss me quick" commercialism of Pahia reminded us of Weston super Mare, it was great to make a second visit to Queenstown. On our last visit two years ago we stayed at the Heritage, which was fine though we tended to eat out because the cuisine was... more

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. The rooms overlooking the Shotover River are spectacular - original and high quality furnishings, and fantastic views. Sitting down for a very special dinner cooked by Selena, next to a log fire, watching super 14 rugby with Mike and Barry was great - it dosen't get much better than... more

Wow, where to start? First, the kind staff introduced themselves and lead us to our room. What a room, i was with my parents and had my own room separated from the main one, as did my folks. We spent nights watching films we rented from the main desk on the nice Plasma. Before dinner we would have a drink... more

This small hotel is certainly one of the best in New Zealand. It has all the facilities for a discerning traveller, very hospitable owners and staff and, if you get a room overlooking the Shotover River, one of the best hotel views anywhere. It may not be in the centre of Queenstown but it is very close. Also, if you... more

From the moment we drove onto the property we were thrilled with out choice to stay at The Nugget Point. We were greeted very warmly by the staff as if we had known them for years. Graham and Helen seemed as if they had been waiting eagerly for our arrival and Barry immediately made us feel welcome. Dinner the first... more
