We stayed one night at this hotel. When we arrived we were given a room on the first floor which was a smoking room despite having specifically stated we required a non smoking room. We approached the staff and they changed our eoom without any great problem although the haeter in the second room was broken. The staff provided a... more

It is in walkable distance from Queenstown centre, with free parking, so it is quite convenient. We got 2 * Queen size bed room, it is roomy and clean even though the deco is very old. We had a view of the lake and my wife loved it. It is great for having families there because it is so roomy.... more

We stayed here on our trip to the south island and booked using a supermarket discount offer of $99. For this price we got a very large room with queen size bed, sofa area and large balcony with great views. The room was great and definitely good value for money. The bathroom was definitely showing its age more and could... more

The photos on the company's website for this hotel are completely misleading. The view is spectacular, that is undeniable. The rooms however have not been updated since (it appears) the early 1980's. Our room was huge, but had only one ceiling light and 3 wall lights with bare longlife bulbs. When I complained that there was very little light in... more

We stayed here recently for a skiing holiday in and around Queenstown. We arrived at night so had no idea of what the view was like or where we were situated etc.. In the morning we opened the curtains of our room, and wow.. the view.. breathtaking! This is by far not the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed in,... more

My wife and I stayed at the Kingsgate hotel for 5 nights in August 2006 for our ski trip. The staff were polite and friendly. Our room were quite large and had a late 80s - early 90s look to it but was comfortable and had more than enough room for two people. The queen bed was reasonably comfortable and... more

On arrival we were shocked at how tired our hotel room looked. There had been a large hole punched in the bathroom door which had been poorly filled. Paintwork was chipped , dirty grout around tiles in the bathroom, dated soft furnishings etc . We accept that we had paid a low rate for the room - NZD$120 - but... more

The staff are great and very friendly in person, which was the highlight of the entire stay. I felt misled by booking staff in the fact they told us the hotel was a five minute walk from town, which it very clearly isn't. The rooms are disgustingly out-dated and the whole thing feels dirty. The heater didn't work properly and... more

Stayed here for 3 nights from 25 December 2006. Clean through out, friendly reception staff, well placed being just 10 minutes walk from town, plenty of car parking. Good views over the lake.Hotel is in need of a freshen up and a lick of paint. It is on the main road so can be a little noisy. A good average... more

This hotel has now dropped 'Terraces' from it's title. It is about a 10 minute walk from the town and a bit longer back as we had to stop to admire the views(it's up a steep hill!) It is 10 minutes from the airport but get the shuttle($13 for two) as the taxi has a hefty pickup surcharge($26 for two).... more
