Just stayed here for a week whilst getting jobs & long term accommodation sorted in queenstown - Tom who runs it is super friendly and helpful. Warm fire, relaxed atmosphere and great value if you stay on a weekly rate. Free (fast!) wifi and bedrooms/bathrooms/kitchen all clean and decent. Would highly recommend and would stay again

My friend and I stayed in the room with 2 twin beds (I think room 14?) in the lodge. The lodge is a separate building from the rest of the hostel and much quieter - although the walls are still thin, so if you have loud neighbors it will be noisy (we did, but fortunately they didn't stay up too... the people are not among the friendliest. guests not allowed on property. while its understandable as keeping the place safe, really not as pleasant...as you can see from the reviews of some other users. I agree with them that the service really could improve, but wouldn't complain too much given the price anyway.

Me and my boyfriend are desperately trying to find a place to stay as we will be homeless in a few days, go into alpine lodge to ask if they had any vacancy, originally the guy says yes but when we mention we are staying at base he then says no on the pure fact we had been booked into... More

I chose Alpine Lodge on the basis that it is one of the smallest hostels in Queenstown. Small, it may be, but it is typically grubby and noisy. I was in a private room next to the bathroom. Guests were showering well into the wee hours of the morning. One going for an obligatory vomit after having too much to... More

Stayed here during our first visit at Queenstown during a winter festival back in 2008. It's a typical backpacker accommodation with shared everything except for the room we got. Our double room however was not good. The bed wasn't comfortable, the room is tidy as it can be but old and run down. They have breakfast which consist of cereals... More

I'm usually never pointing any bad things about hostel because there are always bad points and good points. Being perfect is something not possible. I'm a very easygoing person and not difficult when it comes to stay somewhere.. BUT that place ! I'm going to take 10 minutes of my time to let a review because i've had the worst... More

I was there for3 nights. The night was quite cold i used the slipping bag. The day after the manager told me that i can't use it. I replied that was cold and i asked if i can have a extra blanket. He told me that was warm enough so i couldn't. The heater had glue on the thermometer so... More

The owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We ended up taking his advise on heading out to the local haunts around town and it possibly was the best night out we have ever had. If you are looking for good value, clean, friendly place to stay then look no further you have found it.
