Stayed at the Amber Lodge Motel in Queenstown in Feb. 2014. Sue and Alan were very friendly and accommodating the whole 3 1/2 days we were in Queenstown. The unit was really large, which was a nice change from, even more modern and more expensive accom. we had stayed in, throughout NZ. Our views were magical of the Queenstown area.... More

My partner and I stayed here for 4 days last year on our trip to Queenstown. We needed somewhere reasonably central so we could easily get to local bars, restaurants, down to the lake and to go on all the activities we booked, that wasn't too expensive - or over a bar so we could get some sleep in a... My partner and I went for a romantic weekend and I have to admit this lodge was not my first choice but the only nice and affordable place I found. I wasn't particularly impressed with the look as well but I have to say "never judge a book by its cover"! The exterior is not flash but the rooms are... More

Stayed with them for a few days while in the south island. It was a pretty good place to stay. The location was great as it was located centrally with everything close by. The view was awesome as well! The rooms were a bit old and not as good as most of the modern places to stay. But it wasn't... More

Service was good and the apartment was very roomy and spacious but the quality was average. The cleanliness of the apartment was average, furniture dated but there was room for improvement. The kitchen was very big and fully equipped and there was a great view from the balcony. The location was great and good to have carpark.

NOT a luxury hotel or "Lodge", a bit dingy on the outside but it was quiet and comfortable - we enjoyed a clean, well-appointed room with small kitchen - easy walking distance to downtown - very reasonably priced for what you got.

I was there at the end of September 2013. I've definitely stayed in nicer hotels than this one, but it wasn't all bad either. It's a bit old and doesn't have that feeling of cleanliness that especially newer places tend to have. Still I liked they way it was designed like a small apartment, with a kitchen that had all... The hotel has multiple room types depending on your needs. I had a studio with a queen size bed , a big bathroom, and a nice kitchen. Kitchen has fridge, microwave, hot plate, and all basic silverware / pots. Flat screen TV has lots of channels. The folks running it are really friendly and knowledgeable about the activities in the... More

Was in a party of 5 so 3 of us had to make do with beds in the living room. That being said it was great that it was already done upon our arrival. Location is perfect, the beds are comfortable and everything that they said would be there was there. It's a little old, but still very much good... More

Amber Lodge is just a stone's throw away from the centre of the city centre, superb location! The owner, Alan is very friendly and lively! The room we stayed in had a great mountain view and well equipped! However the heater will turn off automatically, so it's very cold in the middle of the night!
