Stayed here to avoid the throngs of tourists making the daily run out to the Sound. Booked a chalet to splurge and enjoy the privacy. Great space, nicely furnished. The cafe was okay. The only restaurant in town suddenly shut down so would recommend picking up some items in the way out of civilization and enjoy the patio as long... More

This lodge was in a great location. Our view looked out to 7 cascading waterfalls. A great sight to wake up to. Our chalet was modern and well appointed. And very clean. Heating and humidifier with plenty of hot water in the shower. It was the middle of winter while we were there so cold outside! The lodge staff were... More

After two days hiking the Routeburn Track including a night at the Mackenzie Hut, we were so ready for the clean, modern, cozy Riverside Chalet at the the Milford Sound Lodge. It was raining when we arrived--as it often is in Milford Sound--which made the room that much more inviting. While the Lodge isn't right on the sound (it's a... More

We both like it even we need to leave early because weather is getting bad and the only road would be closed. The charlet is very nice and looks like just renovated and also again, very very close to Milford sound track . you don't need to drive long way from Te Anu to Milford sound. Trust me, it's much... We didn't realise that the lodge is a little way out of Milford Sound itself and the view is a bit different, although still incredible. We booked a 4 bed dorm to ourselves as the price of self contained cabins is so high and there was nothing else available fairly last minute. The dorms and washrooms are a bit shabby... More

After driving for 5 hours it's nice to be greeted with a warm bed, friendly service and beautiful views! The chalet we booked was perfect, with river and mountain views and one extremely comfy bed :) The interiors were modern and well furnished. The chalets are serviced daily, and a nice spread with fresh pastries is replenished for breakfast too.... More

i stayed here just for one night as the road was closing at 5pm due to Avalanche risk and the manager was on duty when I arrived. She was very helpful and friendly. However, later that day another girl was working who I felt purposely frightened people about the possibility of the road staying closed for a number of days... More

My wife and I stayed in one of the luxury cabins and it was superb. Lush thick carpets, incredibly comfy bed, 5* standard! Food is available but only at the lodge cafe. We brought some beer and wine and took it back to our room, so we could enjoy the views. They also have free DVDs to rent. Recommend stopping... More

We were a group of 4 and we rented a mountain view chalet at the Milford Sound Lodge. The place was difficult to find because our GPS pointed us to a different location and there was no cell coverage anywhere in the area. Yet when we managed to somehow reach the lodge, it was a treat like nothing else we've... More

We stayed 2 nights in a chalet and would definitely recommend the same to others. The backpacker accommodations looked great for anyone young enough to be traveling that way. The chalets, however were a perfect place for my husband and I to relax in the middle of our extensive NZ visit. They are spacious, clean and beautifully located to take... More
