I guess they charge extra for their location as this was one of the most expensive campsites in NZ. Riverside probably means that you have to walk through a river (aka road) to get the to the toilets. No way without rubber boots an a rainy day. Toilet/shower facitlity were quite far away from our site but ok. The kitchen... More

Booked reservation for motorhome campsite the night before from Queenstown. When arrived with our motorhome after our boat tour on Milford, it wasn't as promised. On the website it said river in front of campsite. There was very little water, which wasn't even near the campsites and lots of bugs. After we pulled in we looked around and decided that... More

Booked 2 nights, should of only booked 1. After finishing the Milford Track was a nice place to recharge. Nice shower, good drying room, ok kitchen. 4 bed dorm rooms very small and walls very thin and can hear everyone one walking past. After you see the sound there is not much else to do with out a car. Also... More

You can't beat the location if you are headed to milford sound. But as the only lodging in milford sound it lets the beauty of there location down. We had booked in for a cruise and kayak combo and we happy to not have to drive out of the area after a long day. The lodge itself is fine with... More

It goes without saying, the location is truly stunning. To wake up to the view of the mountain and river gushing past almost at your feet beyond the chalet is simply amazing. The room and facilities are of a high standard and very clean. Staff are super friendly and full of local knowledge, of course. Facilities for eating are limited... More

We stayed in the cabin in the photo! If you get this cabin you are in for a treat! Great floor to ceiling windows in the dining/sitting area overlooking the stream and mountains. It is really neat to sit there and view the planes and helicopters flying by. These few units, I understand, were recently added. They are modern and... More

Cafe is overpriced but decent sandwiches and soup. For a backpacker style location they should have some basic food supplies (noodles, etc.) for sale. They were nice and helpful. Room smallish, but fine. Showers were fine with decent water pressure, not ideal temperature control but that's a common issue in NZ. Very nice supply of everything (pots, pans, cutlery, plates,... First you have to know that there is very little by way of accommodation at Milford Sound. This is basically one of two options. Secondly you need to know that the experience at the Milford Sound Lodge can be very different depending on the type of accommodation you book. The options include tent camping (I think), campervan hook ups, hostel... More

Milford is a special area. It features some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand and this lodge fails to do this location justice. Although I'm thankful had a place to stay it was disappointing and underwhelming. I'll quickly touch on the good and bad. Good- Close to village, close to airport, close to highway, food available at lodge,... More
