First you have to know that there is very little by way of accommodation at Milford Sound. This is basically one of two options. Secondly you need to know that the experience at the Milford Sound Lodge can be very different depending on the type of accommodation you book. The options include tent camping (I think), campervan hook ups, hostel... More

Milford is a special area. It features some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand and this lodge fails to do this location justice. Although I'm thankful had a place to stay it was disappointing and underwhelming. I'll quickly touch on the good and bad. Good- Close to village, close to airport, close to highway, food available at lodge,... More

This place is quite simple, and has the bare necessities for a stay in Milford. We slept in a four bed dorm, and it was clean, and comfortable. The lodge itself is quite dark in general, especially the lounge area. Shower pressure was pretty bad, and bathrooms were always busy. Kitchen is big, but it is not big enough for... More

The missus and I stayed here after doing the independent walk on the Milford Track. We booked a Double Room for a bit of privacy which cost AUD$89.00 but to be honest, the walls are quite thin and you can hear every creak, groan and cough coming through the walls. Take ear plugs my friends. The Milford Sound Lodge itself... More

Arrived at Milfords Sound around lunch time. Called into the lodge to confirm our room. Told that check in was not until 2pm. That was no problem for us it was more about the attitude of the girl at the desk. Returned to the lodge to check in and told that the room was not ready and wait in the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights after walking Milford Track, 1 night in a 4 bed bunk house and 2 in the luxury chalets. The lodge provided everything we needed after our walk, comfy beds, hot showers, laundry facilities and the drying room was most appreciated to dry wet trekking gear and boots. Facilities are kept clean and well maintained. If... More

We'll positioned for Milford sound activities. Site itself had a large comfortable spacious lounge area, good kitchen facilities (however take a lighter for gas lighting). Friendly and helpful staff, pitches not brilliant secluded plot means no views. Book in advance as there are not that many pitches and is a little pricey. DOC sites whilst further away from Milford sounds... More

This was a pretty average hostel, the rooms were clean and convenient. The bathrooms were nice and the staff was reasonably helpful. It is just about the only option in Milford Sound and the trip is DEFINITELY worth it. The sound is absolutely amazing. Two minor complaints: -The fees are pretty high for things like towels but that's not surprising... More

Great experience! I stayed here with three friends for a night in November. We had hoped to get one of the chalet rooms, but they were already booked by the time we inquired in September, so book early! Our room with 4 bunkbeds, however, was cozy and clean. The bathroom was a short walk away camp-style. The staff was extremely... More

Decided to stay overnight and do an early morning cruise onto Milford Sound so just stayed one night.Staying served its purpose. We booked a double room and had a good bed and a good sleep in cabin 18 (away from the car park and common areas), the kitchen and showers were chaotic but adequate. It was great to have a... More
