We chose Central City because of its location close to the central city. It is all of that but also a wonderful little camp with great facilities and very friendly and helpful owners. Important little touches like heaps of cutlery and utensils in the kitchen and beautifully clean toilet block. The camp is quiet and secure making us feel very... More

Small tidy camping ground 15 minutes walk from most of Invercargill City attractions. Clean facilities, huge kitchen, lots of stoves etc, good hot showers. Had a wet day here, enough paths etc to get around.

Thanks for doing a Review of our Park. It seems that you were relatively happy with your stay here which of course is what we try to achieve. We wonder what it would have taken to achieve a 5 or two for some of your ratings? We are always keen to do better. Thanks again Herbsteraged. Wendy & Doug More

We have stayed here twice for 4 nights during the last 2 weeks. This is by far the BEST camp ground we have stayed in down South. Really good facilities kept very CLEAN and the owners are friendly and made us very welcome. The area is so quiet you just don't know you are in a city, but it's only... More

Many thanks Robotramper for doing such a great and informative Review of our Park. It's always good to have people like yourselves return to stay for a second or third time while exploring the south. It was a pleasure to have you here. All the very best & thanks again, Wendy & Doug More

Though this campground is in the centre of the city as it says it is right along a busy road with a lot of noise. The powered sites are very small and there is very little room to set up chairs or a gas cooker without being on top of the people next to you. The website says they have... More

Hello Miss Floyd We're sorry that our Park did not meet your expectations during the few minutes that you were here. Our experience has been that travelers such as yourselves, in smaller vehicles and planning only a 1-night stop-over appreciate the close proximity of the area you were offered to the kitchen/lounge and bathroom facilities. If the area is not... More

I would highly recommend this place; it has a well equipped kitchen, utilities, communal area, sofas, EXCELLENT showers- best showers yet!- and free WiFi. The owners are lovely and really helpful. Excellent alternative to a hostel!

30 years of experience caravaning and this park is in top 5. Perfect hosts. Excellent facilities. The one person who 'badmouthed' this great park is a nasty individual who used this forum as 'payback' because he was politely asked by the owners to keep the noise level down well after most other campers were TRYING to sleep. I know; I... More

Not a family orientated park at all! Even though its a small park, we were looking for somewhere to camp on a regular basis, (once a month) We thought this would be perfect. Only 2 person tents seemed acceptable, and curfew 10.30 even if you are only playing cards! We were very disappointed with the owners lack of hospitality towards... More

Hello Tasha281 We do hope that you managed to find a camping park where you have been able to relax and have fun as a family group. For a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers wanting to have fun into the night, you are quite correct in that our Park is not the best choice. We cater for a... More

We stayed just one night in a 'wicked' small campervan. For a tiny fee of $15pp we stepped into an central city oasis of great facilities and friendliness (hosts Doug & Wendy were only too happy to help with whatever the task). This place is kept cleaner than many 5 star hotels I've stayed in over the years, it's evident... More

Thank you so much for your superb review. You've set the expectations for us to live up to now!! We do work to keep th place A1 but at times it's challenging, especially just now when the lawns are growing++ with the weather being wet and warm. We hadn't planned on staying in Invercargill - what a lovely surprise the Central City Camping Park was! The location was fantastic - we walked into town to explore restaurants, pubs and to pick up supplies from the supermarket. The park facilities were extremely well maintained and superior to a lot of other parks we stayed at. It was great... More

Quiet well-maintained park easy 800m walk into the city. Powered and unpowered sites. Quality bedroom units with bedding, TV, heater etc, 2 with ensuites and 2 without bedding for the more budget conscious travellers. High pressure showers, very well equipped kitchen-dining-lounge area, laundry, free Wifi voucher. Three things our guests regularly comment are how much they enjoy being able to park-up and stroll into the city, the very high standard of cleanliness and how very comfortable and relaxed they feel staying with us. We really are en route to everywhere! Just metres from the Southern Scenic Route - east to the Catlins & west to Fiordland, State Highway 1 - north to Dunedin & and south to Bluff and the Stewart Island ferry terminal, and just a few blocks from the city centre. Come check us out. We look forward to welcoming you! ... more   less
