As previous reviewers have pointed out breakfast is an event. Mary and Patrick are the perfect hosts, the bedroom was delightful and well fitted out as was the bathroom, and the gardens are beautiful. Mary gave us loads of helpful advice regarding the local sites to visit. A lovely stay in an exceptional B&B.

We chose Portobello on the Otago Peninsula as a good base for visiting Dunedin and all there is to see on the peninsula itself. Staying at McCauley Glen B&B, with Mary and Patrick, we were not disappointed. Set in beautiful gardens, the B&B has 2 rooms, one that can accommodate up to 4 people and another for 2 people, both... There were two couples who had traveled for a month through New Zealand and were winding down our trip when we hit Dunedin. We had picked this place on the internet because of its location - right on the Otago Peninsula. Man, did we luck out! The rooms are wonderful, the breakfasts unbelievable, the hosts, Mary and Patrick, some of... More

staying at the McAuley Glenn was our first acquaintance with New Zealand. What a warm welcome and hospitality! Our kids loved Mary and Pat. We've enjoyed the rich breakfast every morning and the hot tub in the evening. It is a real good start of visiting New Zealand.

As many reviews indicated and it is very true, the breakfast is a meal in itself and can really last you through to dinner ! I enjoyed Mary's lovely scones and her helpful tips on cooking! Love the bacon and the other dishes she prepared. The Lauralie suite was a 2 bedroom and even though there was one heating unit,... More

We stayed for three nights in the comfortably furnished, pleasantly decorated and very spacious Ambrosia Suite during a driving tour of New Zealand. McAuley Glen is set in luxuriant gardens at the harbour of Portobello on the Otago Peninsula. It is an ideal location, near to Dunedin but in a tranquil setting. It is a short drive to the nearby... We stayed at McAuley Glen B&B for a night on our honeymoon. Was a great place to stay, the hosts are very friendly, the room was beautiful, very clean, tidy & comfortable with ensuite and private outdoor seating area. The outdoor fireplace & spa pool were great too! Delicious breakfast, love the pancakes and homemade bread! Would highly recommend to... More

We stayed with Mary and Patrick on the beginning of March 2015; we enjoyed the beauty of the Otago peninsula, the seals, penguïns and albatrosses, but especially we were amazed by the hospitality, the helpfulness and the suggestions given by Mary and Patrick. We won't say anything about the breakfast only that we increased weight because we could not stop... More

The gardens are beautiful and the accommodations are comfortable, spacious and welcoming but what stands out are the generous and delicious breakfasts. Mary and Patrick are friendly and helpful and have lots of suggestions for activities in the area. There are 2 good restaurants within walking distance. We will always remember our visit to Penguin Place, which is about 15... More

We could only stay two nights, but it was wonderful. The hosts, Mary & Patrick, were very friendly and extremely helpful with sight seeing tips and plans. They gave us suggestions for dinner and even called in reservations for us. The breakfasts were awesome, we ate so much we skipped lunch and just had some nibbles w/drinks late afternoon, prior...
