Situated half way up one of Dunedin's many steep streets, Brothers is the elegantly and sympathetically converted former residence of a Catholic brotherhood. The owners have maintained a number of the original features but the guest rooms are far from monastic cells. Simply decorated and comfortable, our room on the top floor enjoyed panoramic views of the city. One word... more

Stayed only one night and it was perfect. The hotel is a former Christian Brothers House and has been converted to a luxury hotel overlooking Dunedin. The owner has got it just right, is extremely pleasant and helpful and knows when to leave you alone. The rooms are not large but each has its own ensuite and off street parking... more

I have just returned from a five day stay at The Brothers . I was on my own and walked home each night on my own feeling safe . All the historic buildings are in this part of town. Great cafe Nova in the Art Gallery just down the hill, Temple Art Gallery, First Church, Railway Station, Octagon all within... more

My husband and I stayed here for one night only over Easter before heading off on the Otago Rail Trail bike tour. We arrived late adn were upgraded to the Chapel Room! What a treat. The hotel was warm and cosy and the resident dog and cat give the hotel a nice feel. The continental breakfast was great and the... more

Lovely room, perhaps rather small by New Zealand standards, but very well appointed and comfortable. There are no phones in the rooms. Continental breakfast (there is no full breakfast) was rather basic, but adequate. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Hotel is close to the town centre and lots of restaurants. Car parking is on site, but can be a challenge finding... more

The Brothers Boutique was such a unique stay - the old seminary was tastefully remodeled into a very comfortable B&B. Rod was such a wonderful host - very welcoming and hospitable! The location is superb - just a 5-minute walk from some great restaurants. The building itself is a historic gem! A must-stay and great value! more

My husband and I stayed for 2 days and enjoyed it very much. Breakfasts were great. Our host made sure all our questions were answered. The building is interesting and beautiful. It has a garden and a terrace that has nice views of the cathedral next door. The Octagon, city center was only a 10 minute walk away with its... more

We arrived Christmas night and stayed three nights at Brothers' Hotel. We were warmly welcomed by Rod and the family including Baron the Lab and Molly the cat. The rooms were cozy, the garden beautiful, and the breakfast was tasty. Rod was a font of information about the area and graciously dispensed advice for things to see and do around... more

My husband and I stayed at the Brothers boutique hotel for four nights and by the end of our stay would definately say it was like 'Home from Home'. Rod and his family were wonderful hosts who clearly enjoyed sharing their lovely hotel with all their guests.Nothing was too much trouble for them and their attention to detail and their... more

We had a very enjoyable overnight stay at Brothers in Dunedin. The host, Rod, could not have been more sincerely friendly or obliging even carrying our two heavy suitcases from the top veranda to our room and back again the following day (my husband has a heart condition and could not do this). The room was small and finding somewhere... more
