We stayed here for two nights on a self drive holiday. We had a ground floor set of rooms, shower room, bedroom, and sitting room/kitchen dining area. The latter had a small dining table, two sofas, TV. The bed was comfortable and our room was right at the back of the site so we had no traffic noise at all.... more

Stayed here for 1 night in Sept with our 3 month old and her Granny. Overall a great stay, our hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful - assisted us up the stairs with our "comprehensive" luggage! We booked 2 studio rooms, which were very spacious. Motel is a 15 minute walk to the center of town which wasn't a problem... more

All our planning for our trip to NZ was via the internet. We could only trust our instincts with support of trip advisor. What we found in Dunedin was a small corner of paradise. We have never been to a hotel, motel, inn or B&B where the hosts were so accommodating and interested in making sure our visit would be... more

Stayed here for 3 nights in August. It's a nicely designed set of mock Edwardian apartments set around a small car park. Good points: - Very friendly and helpful staff. - Accommodation was nicely fitted out with everything you need for a short stay. - Cheap take-away food outlets very close - Excellent value for money (£80 per night for... more

We have just returned from a two night stay in this lovely hotel. We selected it from the recommendation of others on this site. I must say it was great value for money, the service was excellent and the rooms were very clean. As we were travelling with my elderly parents, we booked two studio rooms which were very charming... more

As the previous reviewers suggest this is an excellent property with quality fittings and very helpful hosts. We stayed with our 2 year old daughter and my husbands parents, the layout was ideal with the grandparents having the upstairs area with their own bathroom/tea making facilities so we could have time out from each other as needed. The downstairs area... more

858 is a smart motel on one of Dunedin’s main thoroughfares. Next door are two once splendid Victorian houses, now nearly derelict and used as student lodging. That’s what Dunedin and George Street is all about - motels by the yard, slums by the metre, before you hit the downtown area and its architectural spectacles, notably the amazing railway station... more

This is a high quality motel. The room and bedding was very comfortable. Mini kitchenette is a bonus if you want to cook. If you are going to stay here, ask for a room away from the road. It did stay a little noisy till the traffic died down. Bathroom was roomy, and the shower was great. more

We had the pleasure in staying three nights during new year 2009 at the 858 George Street. We really appreciate the warm welcome by our host, and the very clean and pleasant furnished studio we stayed in. The maintenance was "top class", as one of the bulbs in the kitchen was gone, immediately the host attended to the problem by... more
