Nothing too flash. I stayed with my mum as we passed through. The room was very tight but clean, tidy and well maintained. Service was excellent any time we called upon them and the young guy at check-in was a credit to the hotel. His knowledge on what to do and where to go was flawless. He helped map our... more

The Grand Mercure has some drawbacks. Firstly, our "King Size" room was smallest I have ever stayed in! Certainly the kind size bed was comfortable but the room was tiny. There was insufficient hanging space - ie no wardrobe at all - just a few hooks and hangers. The noise from the revellers at the local nightclub was 2am was... more

This was recommended to me by my travel agent - she advised it had old world charm, warm, friendly feel and in a good loaction..... staff were so helpful and organised our tour bookings. Bit of a weird lay out, it had stairs from the lift to our floor. Location was GREAT! 5 mins walk to town, most of the... more

We stayed overnight in the Mercure Dundedin just for sleeping purposes. The staff was helpful, but the parking is non-existant. There is a $20NZ fee to valet park the car. The room was a Superior room, consisting of a king sized bed in one room and a sofa and chairs and a flat LCD widescreen Television in the other room.... more

Checked in & got to our room, a King Bed room with enough room around the bed to walk through only, no where to even open a suitcase. Decided to see if we could upgrade to a bigger room. We were able to for an extra $20NZD a night, the deluxe king bed room was much much bigger. Bed was... more

From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out our experience at this hotel was unacceptable. The service was non existent and it is obvious the hotel does not employ enough staff members. The check in was a problem, we had specifically request and been told we would have a confirmed secure car park for our car,... more

Despite the reviews decided to stay here due to an Accor membership and we really enjoyed it. Stayed a Friday night and didn't hear any noise (from the street or elsewhere). Likes: - Huge room with lots of space - just one bed in the room unlike some of the other reviews - Fantastic very friendly staff (best of any... more

We stayed here for one night. I thought it was a lovely old building which had been tastefully done up in neutral colours. The staff was very pleasant, the room was scrupulously clean, the bar was fun if a bit amateurish and the restaurant was good but not brilliant. There is parking for $NZ10 per night. The cars are housed... more

Firstly I didnt see the knocking shops reported by a previous poster to be nearby. I thought the immediate area was generally safe and we walked around at night with 2 small children with no problems. The room was a good size with 2 double beds and the staff were heplful and cheerful. The room was however stuffy and there... more
