oh breathtaking... it was suppose to be summer but mind you if you are from the tropics... its cold... i had to wear a thermal.. so dont be misguided if travel agents tell you summer... the hotel is situated in the midst of the city. a city built in the mountains with beautiful roads and structures. the worlds best Cadbury... more

This is a good place to stay for central Dunedin, though there is little traffic so if you have a car you could stay further out and not be at a disadvantage. Dunedin is a student town so be aware of young revellers on Friday/Saturday nights, though compared to any large city this is nothing to be concerned about. The... more

It has everything you want, is very good value and extremely centrally located, lots of shops, bars and Restaurants around. If we were to go to Dunedin again ( we would not rush back) we would definitely stay here. Oh and access to the internet was easily available and cheap. more

This hotel is well located close to the city centre and restaurants. It is possible to walk to many places of interest museums, churches etc. The building was once the Inland Revenue building and has been well renovated with large comfortable rooms and good bathrooms. The restaurant is light and airy and serves meals all day. Our breakfasts were very good. more

Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of options when arriving into Dunedin, thus we stayed here as it had just one room left. Our 1st floor, right next to the elevator abode was less-than-spectacular. We did enjoy being able to walk everywhere. Service was o.k. at best. Rooms a bit drab but spacious. more

We stayed here for a few nights in October 2008 as part of a New Zealand group tour. The room was large, but the bathroom was quite small by comparison. The main problem was the lack of any obvious ventilation, apart from the window, which, alas, opened onto the very busy street below. No problems about the location, near the... more

The hotel is what it says, clean rooms, good restaurant and datndard facilities. However there are some major problems. The bar next to the hotel allows people to drink outside ( next to one of the hotel entrances) On one occasion we were jeered at and degrading comments were made. Later on in the evening we tried to leave the... more

The hotel is only a few hundred meters from the Octagon. This makes it a great base to explore the area. The staff were fine, and occasionally went out of their way to help you. The rooms are huge and we had great views over the harbour, however this is quickly forgotten when you sense the lack of feeling in... more
