We stayed here for two nights in January and had a great time. Our room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The bathroom had every thing one needed whilst being compact. The lounge was next door and it was very relaxing and cosy. We were instantly made to feel welcome by Hildegard upon arrival. We had a lovely tea while... More

It is very nice to receive the feedback of your stay with us some months ago as it shows that your Dunedin experience is still on your mind. I have met so many wonderful people this last season, enjoyed hosting them and particularly sharing wildlife adventures. Isn’t it very special after having planted a tree for sustainability to be rewarded... More

This house and the bedrooms are beautifully furnished and Hildegarde was a helpful and friendly host. What made this stay so memorable though was the day tour around the Otago Peninsula. It more than made up for my enormous disappointment of not being able to go on the Penguin Sunrise trip (I had twisted my ankle a few days before).... More

Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry about your ankle and hope that it is a lot better now. It was sad for you not being able to participate in the Sunrise Penguin Walk but I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed the Otago Peninsula day-tour. You are right: guiding is my passion – it is the best... More

We arrived exhausted but were quickly revived by a welcoming snack, glass of wine and then a lovely dinner at a local restaurant within walking distance. Nisbet Cottage is a beautiful B&B, with a spacious private bedroom and sitting room. The common space included a comfy lounge, dining area and large deck where we could relax and enjoy the views... Dear Jill and David! Thank you so much for your detailed review. You were pretty tired when you arrived straight from your international flight and I was very happy to offer you a warm, welcoming, and relaxing place – it was probably also a good idea to spread the tours over 2 days. I really enjoyed your company on the... More

There should be a special category for Nisbet Cottage, Hildegard and the nature visits she organises - excellent just isn't quite enough! We booked the 3 day visit which includes the early morning penguin viewing (why can't they get up a bit later in the morning like normal people?) and the visit to the albatross colony. Our guide, Richard, was... More

Thank you very much for this most wonderful review – a real treat for Easter and a finishing highlight to the summer season. I am very lucky to have Richard working for me as a guide; he is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the wildlife on Otago Peninsula. He loves his job and receiving this positive feedback makes it all... More

Our two-day stay at the Nisbet Cottage was outstanding! From the beautiful accommodations (including yummie breakfasts, and evening wine and cheese), memorable Sunrise Penquin Walk (we looovvved seeing the yellow-eyed penquin walk down to the ocean), Alan's Beach visit with sea lions and fur seals, to the picnic lunch, and finally the Monarch boat tour to view Royal Albatross. Hildegard... More

We really enjoyed our two night visit to Nisbet Cottage. Hildegard was a great host, right from the moment we arrived. The reason we went to Dunedin was to see wildlife and we were not disappointed. During our visit to the Allens beach, we saw a blue penguin moulting, and a number of male and female sea lions. Hildegard was... More

Thanks Herb for your great feedback. I am glad that you were not disappointed with your stay at Nisbet Cottage and the wildlife viewing on the Otago Peninsula. Really enjoyed our 3 day stay, Hildegard gave us a very warm welcome, showed us to our spacious suite and sorted our dinner reservation. Our first day was spent with Hildegard, after an excellent breakfast, out looking at seals sealions small blue penguins and albatross. Thanks for your great feedback about Nisbet Cottage and the tours. Richard really enjoyed the early morning tour with you. One could say it was ‘only’ 3 Yellow-eyed Penguins you saw that day but the viewing was quite close and you were able observe them for quite some time while learning about their breeding cycle and behaviour. These birds are... More
