Really loved this place. The converted historic stables were very well done. Our room was a good size, well appointed & clean. The breakfast choices were a bonus & the food was lovely. A big shout out to the gentleman who served us, he was so nice and helpful. Very good value for money considering you also get entry to... More

The rooms are comfortably furnished in a lodge by the castle, there are stunning views from the first floor bedrooms. The beautifully cooked breakfast is in the old stables and dinner is in the dining room at the castle. Dinner is well worth the extra, drinks in the drawing room, and served dinner party style in the dining room. We... More

Larnach Castle lodges provides a stay with a difference. Not the same as the usual 4 or 5 star chain hotels. Larnach Castle lodges are quaint, provide good old fashioned accommodation with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and basic amenities. It compliments the castle and its surroundings. Located about 10km (or 15 minutes) drive outside of Dunedin the views from... More

Lovely meal and very interesting accommodation at the stable stay. Well worth the money! The dinner we had at the castle was amazing! The host also told us some interesting stories of the castle. The room and the shared shower were both very clean and tidy.

We stayed in the stables- a very economical option. It was a very interesting & novel environment without compromising anything in terms of amenities & comfort in the room- no views, but we could hardly expect that for the rate we paid. Toilet & showers were easily accessed. The shower was small but adequate. It is an easy walk to... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Castle stables - made into family stay rooms. The beds were comfortable, room was clean and cozy. We shared a large bathroom with a couple sinks and toilets and there were private, enclosed showers that we never saw a line for. The only downside was a family with young unhappy children that woke us... More

Staying at Larnach Castle Lodge is a unique experience and not to be missed. We had a room in the stables which was comfortable and well-equipped and as advertised with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were very clean and had separate men and women's (important to me and not always the case in shared bathroom accommodations), I had the misfortune of... More

The drive to the Castle through the forest and into the park like gardens was stunning. Must admit that I was taken aback by the weathered wood exterior of the lodge -- but don't judge a book by the cover -- is true because the interior of our room was full of the WOW factor; from the draped four poster... The lodge is located behind the house, and that is how the whole accommodation situation seems to be thought of by the owners, 'out of sight round the back, and not really interested'. The lodge building has an overall neglected appearance. On arrival we were told that the room didn't have the balcony that I had selected when making the... More

Dear Alan Thank you for taking the time to give us your honest feedback. I I would like to respond to your comments point by point as you referred to them, please do not think I am being defensive. The lodge has been built around the original cow barn that burnt down in the 1970’s, with the original stone and... More
