I've stayed here a few times now on business and its consistently good. The staff are friendly and the rooms are great for the cost of staying here. Some rooms/ Suites are huge and perfect for business trips (which is my reason for staying). Its a great, central location in Dunedin. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a... More

Handy to the city. The small amount given free was only available in the... More

Biggest advantage is being walking distance to central city. Interior a little shabby. Restaurant meals good for the price.,especially cooked breakfast special. Ample parking. 30minute free wifi per day,in hotel lobby.

Just stayed the one night when travelling. It was a good choice, Very good service, restaurant standard high, nice view from room, and above all close to town and city amenities. Great place to have as a "base" when in Dunedin

Very average room & hotel at a average price. We have stayed here twice because it is so centrally located to the octagon and town centre and it is reasonably priced and we knew from the 1st time we stayed that it was clean and warm and reasonable and right in town were we wanted to be.

Visiting Dunedin on business I wanted somewhere convenient and central. Kingsgate is absolutely that place. I could not fault the staff, either - a warm welcome from them all, each of them cheerful and efficient. The bedroom was fit for purpose, clean and well-maintained ..... yes, a little old-fashioned, but nothing to complain about. And the over-the-roof-tops view from the... More

This hotel is very near the octagon. It is on the hill so has views over the city. Very dated hotel which could do with an update. Bed (although 2 of them) was very small for 2 people. Otherwise clean enough. Parking was available but steep hills. Price was ok but for this price could probably get something better nearer... More

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Kingsgate after cycling the rail trail, and it met our needs well. Not glitzy but that is not what we were seeking: comfort, service and location, and a good price, were the criteria, and this hotel offered it all. There was some noise from the room next door, and on-site parking... More

Well lets get the positive things first. Very friendly staff especially in the dining room (1 person on desk service and waiteress) good on you. The Hotel is situated in CBD which is very convenient. Although I really have to aske myself why should I pay close to $200 for a night, when I can get a motel room for... More
