I have recently travelled to Christchurch in New Zealand again and this time I stayed at the budget IBIS hotel for several days for business. The accommadation was on par with some of the better class of hotels and the restaurant food was better than norm. The food menu was not huge like some places where you can't make up... More

We were landing at 11.30pm in ChCh NZ so wanted a place to crash. Went for an Accor hotel with no expectation. Arrived at about 12.45am rang a bell and the night manager appeared like clock work. Room was ready, clean and well stocked with basics like tea coffee and green tea. Room was quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our one... More

I've stayed at Ibis Hotels before so already had a good idea of the standard expected and to be honest this was to the standard expected - i.e. a clean, tidy property with everything you needed and really nothing you didn't. The room was ready nice and early (arriving around 10:30am), which is always nice. Reception was very friendly and... More

Against the bleak backdrop of the Christchurch winter we arrived at the IBIS, a little weary after a day of travel – by no means late but obviously way past the bedtime of the grimace faced receptionist. Her ability to withhold any semblance of a smile was artistic, her aptitude for small talk “Helen-Keller-like”. I can imagine her hospitality tutor... More

Dear BrockG2014, Thank you for posting your review and I apologise that we failed to meet your expectations. You certainly paint a bleak picture of the staff, facilities and the city. We do try hard to please our guests so it is extremely disappointing to read that we obviously got it very wrong during your stay. We have conducted a... More

I had planned to stay at this hotel for 4 nights in June, but due to several different things which I will mention in this review I left after just 2 nights! The hotel is centrally located next to the old cathedral, but due to the 2011 earthquake there is very little in the way of bars and restaurants within... More

Dear TheTravellingMan1, Thank you for your review and I apologise that we didn't meet your expectations. It was extremely disappointing to read in your review that the steak was not cooked to your liking. We have been unable to discover any steak orders that were returned on that night and the steak is our best selling item from our menu.... More

We stayed here for less than ten hours after arrived from Queenstown and before we flew back home. Its location offered us to do some last minutes souvenir shopping. There is a Supermarket twenty minutes away by foot. Also the only casino in Christchurch is also about twenty minutes away but in opposite direction. Thank to its central location we... More

Dear SKYONG, Thank you for your review and it was good to see that you enjoyed your final few hours in the city before returning to Singapore. Our central city location does give guests the opportunity of shopping at the best known store in Christchurch, Ballantynes, which is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. As you point out,... More

Room was comfortable and I have no complaints on the bedding and bathroom . Like all other IBIS hotels, you will find 2-3 computers available at the lobby for guests’ use. The hotel is within walking distance to the shops in town. However, the earthquake in 2011 damaged most of the high-rise building and shopping malls, hence shops are now... More

Dear Jazabelle, Thank you for your positive review and especially for highlighting the exceptional service that Kristin our receptionist gave you. We are very fortunate to have staff of her calibre working at the hotel and it is really nice to see it acknowledged by our guests. THe Ibis is a good value hotel in the heart of Christchurch. Not fancy but clean and functional. Beds comfortable, and housekeeping did a good job of cleaning. Rooms area bit small small (like a cruise ship) for 4 people in a single room but we only stayed for 4 nights. A row of computers available for 20mins use in... More

I live 1.7km from Ibis and have watched it rise from the Red Zone over last 18months. Being out for quake repairs in our home we needed a night away from reality. Ibis staff have been nothing but exceptionally understanding and helpful. I really appreciate they also look out for locals- The hotel has exceptional views over our beautiful city.... More

Had a one night stay on 30 June. While the rooms and bathrooms are on the small side, they are typical Ibis sized rooms and more than adequate for an overnight stay - possibly different if having an extended stay. Quite impressed with the restaurant and had an enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings. The bar and restaurant were both well... More
