Ibis hotel, comfortable all facilities and restaurant was quite acceptable. Christchurch is recovering, now actually seen the devastation after 2-4 years is depressing, quite different to reading about it.

Spent 3 nights in Christchurch during a cold snap. The hotel was lovely and warm, clean and convenient. Staff very helpful. We had a view over the CBD which is in the process of being rebuilt. Visitors should be aware that the centre of Christchurch is still deserted. There are a few places open but most of the buildings are... More

We enjoyed our time (over a weekend) here and I fell in love with Christchurch! While, located in the 're-build district', it was close to the container markets (Re-start Mall) and beautiful Christchurch Botanic Gardens. Walk the surrounding location to enjoy street art and wonderful (often quirky) public art. Our room (720) was small, but had all we needed and... More

The hotel is situated in the center of Christchurch, the cathedrale or the Avon river are a mere 5 minute walk. The inconvenience is the earthquake risk, which is clearly marked when entering the room. The document explains what to do if it would happen. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There are also washing machines available (downstairs). The restaurant... More

I was put up at the hotel while on business to Christchurch. Ibis is one of the newer hotels built after the Earthquake in 2010, and it is a reminder of a European hotel. Very small, and cramped. The bar and restaurant on the first level called Oopen has a basic menu but very over priced, and their basic breakfast... More

Dear Sean O, Thank you for posting your review and it was pleasing that you were able to use our free wifi in the public areas. I am sorry that you found our breakfast expensive and compared it to another hotel that charges $5 more for their buffet breakfast. We do try hard to please our guests and should you... More

Your standard ibis hotel which is very well run with very helpful staff. Food in the restaurant is excellent (a good thing as there are few restaurants nearby due to it being in the heart of the earthquake rebuilding zone). Location does mean it is very quiet at night - although somewhat earie outside.

Stayed at this hotel as had a course at the YMCA just up the road. The reception staff were wonderful and the breakfast was lovely the next morning. The room was not big but perfectly acceptable. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was super comfy. Would definately stay again.

I was traveling through Christchurch with ASC on my way down to Antarctica. It was a very comforting stay. All the employees were very informative and polite. The Chef does an excellent job with the execution of all the food. I would definately recommend / stay here again in the future.

We arrived about 9:45pm and left at 8am in the morning, so it was just a quick stopover between arriving in Chch and catching a bus to Tekapo the next day. No problems, bed was comfy, good sleep, and as a Le Accor Club Gold member we were given welcome drinks. The bar was almost closed with no customers when... More

We stayed overnight in Ibis hotel on our way back after arriving from Greymouth by Tranz Alpine train. The staff on the Reception was nice and friendly. Dear mellymd, Thank you for your review and I am sure that you would have enjoyed the Tranz Alpine scenic train journey which is extremely popular!
