I stayed at this hotel for one night with a group tour. The tour stuffed us 4 to a room which I think is a bit much. The receptionist (Lesley) I the loveliest woman. It started to rain so she have us umbrellas and was very helpful with any questions we had. The room was a decent size but the... More

Had a mate coming to visit for a few days so booked at the ale house ( bealey"s hotel for few nights and as the room was a little in need of some renovations ) But it was Very clean & the very friendly staff both at reception & in The Bar & restaurant certainly made up for that so... More

We stayed here for two nights and again for one night when passing through on the way back. Room was clean, a little dated but considering the price it was fair. Very good location and a very nice lady on the reception. With limited nightlife in Christchurch, the pub next to the hotel is really good, lots of people and... More

This hotel can do better in terms of upkeep of its properties. But its a good place to stay if you want a cheap accommodation in the city. The reception staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. This hotel is hardly a 20 minute drive from the airport.

Nestled behind a True Kiwi Icon - a Speights Ale House, all NZ's unique style of drinking and socializing are right on your doorstep (literally) for you to observe and (if brave enough) partake in. With an extensive range of NZ beers to be had, you can choose to enjoy a Speights Gold, A Speights Summit or for the most... More

We were greeted by Lesley, who has to be the kindest hotel receptionist in the world! She kindly showed us to our room and let us settle in before bothering us with any paper work. The room was massive! It was quiet so we were given a room with a double and two singles for just the two of us!... More

By the time I arrived in town and at the hotel, all coffee shops in the area were closed. My options were a casino that may or may not have had a restaurant, and that I may or may not be dressed appropriately for, the hotel bar which was loud and did not make me feel comfortable to go into... More

After the worst start ever, the staff where apologetic, sympathetic and showed empathy. A rare thing these days. Room was very clean, large, comfortable with a homely feel. Restuarant food was great. Large serving and reasonably priced. No noise could be heard in the rooms from the Ale House, even with Cup Day celebrations going on. 5 minute walk to... More

No idea. Booked and paid ahead, with email confirmations. Got there after a ling day of travel only to be told theyve overbooked and given my room away to a guy who cancelled but showed up anyway. Pay the extra $20 a night and stay at the 5 star hotels.

I am severely allergic to wheat, so every one of my reviews will probably talk about food first. This place had a great pub attached, called Speight's. The hotel was dated, but the rooms were clean and organized well. Beds were thick foam and very comfortable. Shower had powerful, warm water, even though the fixtures were a bit old. Kindly... More
