gd location.. it is very near to the square....stayed in a double room ensuite.. very basic and simple.. please note that there is no lift and you need to carry your own baggage up to the 3rd floor where the rooms are located...

I've stayed at the Coachman Backpackers for quite a while and even now, back home, many of my greatest memories of NZ are from Christchurch and my time there at the Coachman. A place where I met awesome people (honestly, it's weird but I rarely met people I DIDN't get along with), played like over a hundred pool matches and... More

I stayed at the Coachman twice, first right after the arrival in Christchurch and a lousy night sleeping in the airport. Called all backpackers hoping to find one still standing (it was right after the earthquake), and ended up at the Coachman solely based on Manager Nick's joyful voice on the phone ! Checked in for a week, during which... More

My complaint is mainly in regard to the staff. Joo at the front desk was preoccupied during most of our interactions, especially when I first arrived (she wasn't even directing her attention to another guest, just some papers on her desk that obviously were not going anywhere...). Unfortunately her demeanor was rude the rest of my stay, in regards to... More

First time staying at a backpackers. The staff were helpful and friendly. Close to Cathedral Square, shops and bus station. Stayed in the Queen Ensuite room which was clean, comfortable with a large bathroom, small TV. The experience was great and we would stay there again.

Just about the best place we stayed in NZ. Located round the corner from Cathedral Sq and a few minutes walk from all the major bus company drop offs. We stayed in one of their refurbished double rooms along the 1st floor corridor for a few days in November. Good size with enough space for our packs and to 'spill... More
